Located in West Perth, students will be transported to Japan – learning 7 different Izakaya dishes, from miso to sashimi, and much more. This 3-hour learning experience for one will finish up with them feasting on their efforts with their own BYO drinks!
Description
When we think of Japanese cuisine, our minds usually go straight to the delicious sushi that has truly made its way into our mainstream food options. But beyond the world of seaweed wrapped goodies lies Izakaya, a sort of “Japanese Tapas” style way of eating, consuming multiple dishes that traditionally go hand in hand with a beverage, served in drinking establishments.
Our Japanese Izakaya (tapas style) Japanese Cooking Class takes the mystery out of the east Asian cuisine, being guided through the engaging, fun and hands on learning experience; learning more than just recipes, but also techniques, tricks and tips to perfect fare.
The intimate class is hosted by passionate, experienced and enthusiastic chefs, who love sharing their knowledge and excitement for different cuisines – creating a space for art, community and amazing flavours. Located in West Perth, students will create 7 delectable dishes, giving them the skills necessary to recreate them time and time again. Their menu consists of:
- Dashi broth (GF)
- A red miso soup (GF)
- Ginger chicken twice fried (karaage)
- Grilled pork belly skewers with green onion (butabara yaki)
- Edamame salad with fried lotus (GF)
- Agedashi tofu
- Kingfish sashimi with a yuzu style dressing
After the students have created their fabulous fare, they can all enjoy the fruits of their labour together – feasting on the delights with the drinks they are more than welcome to bring along, with their new found friends! Each strudent will be given their very own copy of the recipes they have created in the class, so they can certainly recreate it all at home, and experiment with new and exciting Japanese bites.
To ensure students are comfy and safe, it is encouraged they arrive in comfortable clothing, closed toed shoes, and pop any long hair back off the face. All participants must be 16 years of age and above, and they don’t need any prior experience – perfect for the home cook new to the kitchen, or equally those just wanting to learn more about delicious Japanese cuisine.
