We all know a few people who love to play the part of ‘tong-master’ when the crew gets together for a barbecue. But, do they really know how to utilise that grill to its full potential? Or do they tend to stick with the done-to-death Aussie staples of beef snags, lamb chops, and chicken rissoles? Well, this masterclass might be just what they need to freshen up their skills at the grill!
BBQ School offers a range of cooking classes run by a qualified chef and barbecue specialist. Classes combine demonstration and hands-on practice, and give participants the opportunity to taste everything they cook – paired with tasty beverages – so they’re sure to leave with full bellies and big smiles.
The Meat BBQ Cooking Class runs for 3 hours at scheduled timeslots (mainly weekends), and is available in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Participants will learn how to perfectly cook the main barbecue meats, including lamb, chicken, and beef, while taking them to the next level using mouthwatering marinades and sauces, as well as delicious accompaniments. And, to top it all off, a comprehensive 2-part wine tutorial will ensure the budding BBQ buffs know exactly how to pair each dish with the perfect glass of vino.
On arrival, guests will be treated to toasted Turkish bread with oils and balsamic vinegar to dip. They’ll be given utensils, an apron, and quality ingredients to use for the day, along with a full set of notes and recipes to keep. And from there, they’ll set out to create four delectable dishes, under the capable guidance of the friendly chef. The menu will be as follows (occasionally subject to seasonal change):
Starter:Lamb Rogan Josh Slider w/ Cucumber & Lemon Raita.
Entrée:Barbecued Chicken & Ancient Grains Salad w/ Pomegranate Balsamic Dressing.
Mains:Maille Honey Dijon Leg of Lamb w/ Potato & Onion Salad Roasted in Lamb Fat; and Cape Grim Sirloin Steak w/ Chimichurri & Rocket Salad.
Mmmmm… If that doesn’t have you drooling at your keyboard, nothing will! After this class, their cook-ups will surely be the toast of the town! All participants are encouraged to wear closed-in shoes for their safety, along with comfortable clothing. And, as the experience involves alcohol, guests must be at least 18 years of age. The voucher is valid for one person. Once a booking has been made, it can be reschedule free of charge with more than 3 days’ notice, or at a cost of $50 with 1-3 days’ notice. Cancellations on the day, or failure to attend, will result in forfeit of the voucher.
