Myself and my partner decided to book this trip and were really looking forward to it. Our tour guide Rob was amazing. He met up with us in the CBD and was prompt and punctual. He was very welcoming and friendly. He took us around the city and was very informative about landmarks within the city. I didn't expect our tour guide to be so warm and down to earth and was really interesting to talk to. He was very knowledgeable, polite and really easy to talk to. Our first stop was at the Wildlife Centre and it was amazing to see all the local animals up close. With Robs experience with these animals he was very informative about the animals themselves, i definitely learned a thing or two there. It was a bit of a hot day and Rob had some water organised for us which was very thoughtful We made our way to the wine tasting and lunch. Lunch was amazing and Rob was amazing. The wine tasting as well was a great experience After a long day we mad e our way back to the city. Rob offered to drop me off to where my car was in Footscray and i really appreciated that after a long day of exploring. I just want to Thank Rob so much for the great experience. I would rate him a 10/10 and is definitely the best tour guide. He is definitely an asset to this company

Covid-19 has been a massive interruption for so many people and businesses, but Paul and Rob didn't miss a beat, and neither did the Healesville Sanctuary and the vineyards. Healesville Sanctuary had only just re-opened, and some exhibits were not available. The staff and volunteers were friendly and welcoming, happy to share their knowledge. The bird presentation was the highlight. Lunch at Yering Station was exquisite and the grounds and cellar door are just beautiful. The van is quite comfortable. Paul is a consummate guide and host, and I enjoyed it so much, I went on another tour the next day.

My husband grew up thinking a platypus was the world's most unique animal and he loves good food & wine so this trip was a perfect day trip from our week stay in Melbourne. Our morning visit to the Healesville Sanctuary exceeded our expectation to see Australian native animals since we had a free guided tour with some recent graduates from a local university who knew everything about the flora and fauna. The afternoon lunch and wine tasting, made the day completely superb. The Yarra Valley is not to be missed.

Excellent venue, especially the close encounter with a Koala. some exhibits closed which was unfortunate.

Nice, interesting trip. Seen typical Australian animals; bird show at Healesville. Wine tasting good, dinner excellent. Really great guide Shaun.

This was a great day trip and I highly recommend it for adults. From the time I booked, communication was excellent and our guide Rob was exceptional, a great conversationalist, knowledgeable and attentive. The entire day exceeded our expectations; transportation was a clean and well maintained minivan that was comfortable. The wildlife sanctuary was truly amazing, we had our personal guide, Sue sharing great information about the animals. Wine tasting we had our private area to enjoy the wines and the food was incredible, very fresh and delicious. A day that was enjoyed by all.

This tour was excellent. Rob was a great tour guide as were the volunteers that walked us through the sanctuary. Could have spent more hours at the wildlife sanctuary, 3 hours was not enough time to see everything. I need to go back. After the sanctuary moved to the Yering Station Winery for our first tasting flight that was most excellent (came home with 2 bottles of their Pinot Noir) followed by an amazing lunch over looking the valley. After lunch drove 15 mins to the DeBortoli Winery for a perfect wine and cheese pairing. Again, some great wine (came away with another bottle of Pinot Noir and Cabernet). Drove through the countryside enroute back to Melbourne, beautiful country, and got to see a mob of kangaroos. Was a perfect day! Picked up at the Marriott Lonsdale 0900 and dropped off shortly after 1800. Proud to say, all 4 bottles, survived the flight back to the US.

Shane was a knowledgeable and pleasant guide. He learned all our names and made an effort to engage everyone. The sanctuary was very good as well as the wines we tried.

Stephen, our guide, was an erudite host, and not only on the subject of wine. I noticed that he called each of us by name, which can be a challenge for some guides - nice, personal touch. Thoroughly enjoyed the time at the Healesville Sanctuary. Was impressed with the size and scope of the hospital operation there. My timing worked out well in that I was able to catch several animals around the sanctuary at meal or snack time. On to lunch and vineyards - the two vineyards we went to for tastings (we had lunch at one of them as well) were superb. Really well selected, particularly for those among us who opted for the sanctuary in the morning and missed the morning tastings. Overall a great day - highly recommend.

I came to Australia as part of a last minute business trip. One of my colleagues recommended Healesville Sanctuary and some wineries in the Yarra River Valley, so I booked this small group tour with Vinetrekker Wine and Food Tours. Rob was my driver/tour guide for the day. He arrived promptly at my hotel for pick up and we were on our way for drop off at Healesville. For the group getting off at the sanctuary, we saw a variety of native species including the musts: koalas, kangaroos, dingos, Tasmanian devils. Following, we had a wine tasting and lunch followed by a wine and cheese pairing. Rob was wonderful and made the day go smoothly. He was so helpful and knowledgeable. I’d highly recommend this tour!

Mirjana_M February 2020

Great trip and driver. Enjoyed seeing the Australian wildlife at Healesville very much. Our afternoon in the Yarra Valley with lunch at Yering was a great way to finish off the day. Lunch was exceptional, we tried some new foods and cheeses which made the afternoon interesting.

Nicdo6 February 2020

Excellent tour curated by Rob. He has a good knowledge of history of the local area and the mix of wildlife and wine was niceLy balanced out. I really like Healsville sanctuary. I would have liked to have added on one of their ‘experiences’ but perhaps the tour doesn’t have enough time for that? Otherwise everything was great. (Travelled as apart of a business group)

JeanneW2010 February 2020

We took the Yarra Valley tour with Bob and loved every minute. We sampled wines in 2 excellent wineries and had a scrumptious lunch. Bob drove us around the countryside at the end of the day to spot 3 different herds of wild kangaroos. What a kind and personable guide! We loved the bird show at the Wildlife sanctuary. We have been on a lot of tours. This ranks as one of the best!

Mark_K February 2020

Wonderful trip to see the animals of Australia. Multiple birds as well as mammals that are not usually seen outside of Australia. We even went to the animal hospital where we saw a koala being cared for after the fires as well as an anesthetized Tasmania Devil. Lunch was in a gourmet restaurant on the grounds of the winery. The stops at the wineries included high end wines from the wineries. We tried a panoply of wines that reflected what the area could produce. These wines are not usually available in the USA.

All of the trip was great, Shane was a great driver amd guide. All went to plan and had plenty of time at Healesville and the wineries. The volunteer guides at Healesville really added to the experience as well.

SJ55417 February 2020

Enjoyed the visiting of the Healesville Sanctuary with knowledgeable sanctuary guide David to learn about the animals and the environmental efforts undertaken there. The lunch and wineries were excellent. We had a small tour that felt very curated. Tour guide Paul was friendly and helpful from start to finish. He knows the area and wines well! Highly recommend.

Rob is an excellent guide - knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. For example, we went out on Australia Day and Rob avoided heavy traffic coming back to Melbourne AND took us on a scenic route to see kangaroos and some beautiful countryside. Lunch was delicious as was wine and cheese later and the wildlife part of the tour was fun and educational. I highly recommend this if you want to sample nice Yarra Valley wines with good food, an overview of Australian wildlife and a great tour guide.

lcjoanne January 2020

We had a wonderful trip. We were first picked up at our hotel by Shane, our guide and driver for the day, who took us through the origins and history of the city of Melbourne. His extensive knowledge of its history was extensive and fun to listen to. First stop at the Healesville Sanctuary was informative and enjoyable. Helen, the volunteer guide at the sanctuary was lovely and entertaining. Her depth of knowledge of both the plants and animals in the sanctuary was impressive. She showed us around as much as she could, and even had us feed the different types of birds there. The bird show was totally awesome too. Our questions were always promptly answered and we really appreciated that. We were then picked up again by Shane, and headed for the wineries. His knowledge of the different wines, their respective aromas and undertones was truly amazing. He was not only well versed in the history of each of the wineries but also of Yarra Valley. He was a great help to us amateurs who knew little about the types of wines. Lunch at Yerring Station was of good quality and delicious. It was paired with a glass of wine of our choice, with Shane offering useful suggestions which was greatly appreciated. He was cheerful, warm and friendly, attentive, helpful and very passionate about wines. In all aspects, both of them were wonderful and excellent guides. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves. Time allocated for all the individual stops and activities was adequate and the pace was not rushed nor too long. Once again, thanks for the really fantastic time!

My husband and I had a wonderful day on our tour yesterday. Our driver/tour guide, Shane, was knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure everyone was happy and the tour went smoothly. The Sanctuary was a highlight, very well done. We had a delicious lunch at Yerling, and the did some wine tasting, very enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this company.

Jodi_M January 2020

Our tour guide, Steven, was excellent. Experienced and knowledgeable. I felt that he made sure we got the most out of the day particularly at the wineries. Picked up right on schedule just before 9am but as we were the last picked up we were "stuck" with the least desirable seat at the back of the van. A bit cramped and got the most of the bumps. Sit toward the front if you can. Fairly quick trip to the Yarra Valley (approximately an hour) but peppered with insights throughout. Dropped off at the Healesville Sanctuary for almost 3 hours of exploring. Nice facility throughout. Was able to see all of the "traditional" Australian wildlife. This was not our first trip to Australia so we've been to other sanctuaries that we could compare it to. This would be lower on our list for koalas and kangaroos, however, the highlight for us was the Platypus exhibit. Go to the presentation and get to see a a platypus up close and in broad daylight. That was the highlight for us. Steven picked us up right on time and we went to Yering Station Winery for a private tasting and lunch. Both were excellent. Lunch was a little later in the day than we Americans would typically do so be prepared with a snack or get something at the Sanctuary. Beautiful view of wine country from the large windows of the restaurant. Finished the day at De Bortoli Winery. Even better tasting paired with great cheeses as well. Beautiful property and the vineyards seemed endless. Back to Melbourne and arrived at the hotel around 6pm. All in all a great day and was able to see a new area of Melbourne for us. Great tour company and tour guide!

Stephen couldn’t have done any more at the start and during the tour. He quite clearly is passionate about his work and wine including guiding the not so experienced wine tasters in the group
