We signed up for the Guildford tour followed by 2x wineries, the chocolate, and the River Cruise back to Perth. I don’t recommend the Guildford tour on Monday or Tuesday (when we went) because many stores are closed. Still, it’s a quaint town. Our tour went to two wineries, one quite fancy, the other quite earthy, both very good. They were generous with the tasting and we had a lovely cheese plate at the second one. Then, chocolate insanity at Providore. Finally, and the best part, was the leisurely Swan River boat trip back to Perth. Two words: open bar. Two more words: great singer. Two final words: much fun. This thing was a tad touristy and cheesy, but it was a perfect good time.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional, ensuring we were enjoying our experience at every stop. The wine was free flowing, so much so that we could not indulge as we cruised the beautiful Swan river back to Perth. Tea and coffee was most welcomed though at this stage.

The day turned out better than we could of hoped for. Very organised right from the pick up with the very knowledgeable Keith, all the way through to the best finish with the Swann river cruise... awesome day.

Had a great day today. We did the boat trip both ways and found Captain Matt, Bec, and Michelle were all fantastic, friendly, and provided the best customer service...... only gripe was that we all felt that Bec should have sung for longer on our way back, as she was that good!!! Our lunch was nice but the attitude of the waiting staff at Mandoon was poor.... definitely needing a personality transplant. After speaking to others on the tour, we would recommend doing the boat cruise each way!!

This is a good way to spend a day in Perth. Left at 9:45 from Perth train station corner of Wellington st and William st and returned to Elizabeth quay about 5pm. We had spent a few days in margaret river including a similar organised tour a few days before this and have to admit if you’re based in Perth, this is so much easier. Many of the wineries in swan river grow their grapes or have some brought up from margaret river anyway so you end up trying some from MR on this tour. And only a 30 min drive from Perth. Peter the driver was super friendly and good sense of humour, and so helpful with everything. We went to Sandalford wines (some sweet wine options too, and cheese and jatz provided), Mandoon estate (which became our sort of base, we could’ve walked to it was literally next door). Homestead brewery was in the same complex as Mandoon estate but unlike other reviews here we didn’t have lunch at the brewery as expected, but at a far more upmarket dining room next to their Wild Swan fine dining restaurant. We suspect this was because it was a Saturday and the brewery was busy. Lunch options were: Chicken with beans, peppers and other such Crispy skinned barramundi with potato rosti type thing and cabbage (we had) Beet salad (not sure what else was in this). Glass of red, white, lager or soft drink was included. The Barra was delicious and well cooked. Fine dining sized meals so not huge, but a nice light lunch. Then went to Lancaster wines (very noisy and busy but a welcome big cheese platter). Although we’d been on a small group tour (10 people) up until that point, another tour joined us on the bus so we ended up with about 24 people sharing the cheese. Margaret river chocolate company you not only get the public samples but a truffle each and Peter was great - he’s able to dive in behind the counter and start serving to save time and then dug up some more samples for us of nougat and other things. Also in this stop was Providore who had more wine (we missed) and chocolate liqueurs which were delicious and they also have olive oil, chutneys etc for tasting by the public. The Captain Cook cruise back to Perth was nice. Back to Mandoon estate to catch the boat. Being a spring Saturday there were a couple of spring weddings we got to see along the banks of the swan. And free coffee and tea and cake and fruit at first, then open bar for the rest of the trip (red, white and sparkling - didn’t seem to be from wineries we’d visited or even swan valley so there’s an opportunity). Lauren from the crew started singing about 30 mins before arrival in Perth and as others have said has an amazing voice. All in all a good day out!

We caught the bus at Guildford and went to two wineries for wine tasting , then lunch at Homestead brewery , then to another winery , chocolate tasting and then the wine cruise back to Perth. We met some lovely people in the group and tasted some gorgeous wines. We had cheese tasting at two of them and cakes and drinks on the boat . It was good value with nibbles , wine , chocolate and lunch

My wife and I had a great day starting with a bus trip to the Swan Valley area with a very informative guide. Lovely wine tastings and lunch or followed up with a cruise back to Perth. We both enjoyed this immensely!

Lorraine C June 2019

The coach driver was very informative and the winery’s we visited were most welcoming, great wine and food and the cruise back was with more great wine and entertainment from the young girl singing.

My fiancee and I had a most wonderful day. The day and venues were extremely well chosen and organised. Our tour guides were extremely knowledgeable of the Swan Valley area and it was a pleasure to learn surrounded by like minded people. Nothing was too much trouble with the organisers. The food was beautiful and choices supeb. The tastings were fantastic with many different fluids to tempt the taste buds. THEN the extreme coffee hit to get us on our way back to Perth via a beautiful River Cruise. The staff were fabulous and the very talented singer was an added bonus. What staff.. Great.. Beautiful relaxing cruise back to Perth.. Lovely.. Thank you to all.

Patrick R January 2019

The tour is described as a small group experience where you "travel with a small group of 9 people or fewer". This is simply NOT TRUE! On the day of our tour which was a weekday, there were 14 which made the wine tasting experience a bit crowded. Our guide told me they can get as many as 23 on a single tour on the weekends. This would be fine as long as you know what you are getting into when you sign up. The information on the TripAdvisor website about the size of the tour group is simply untrue and blatantly deceptive.

Such fun!! A well organised trip with excellent tastings, superb lunch and entertaining cruise back to Perth! Don’t hesitate - book this!

Karin_B December 2018

We booked and paid for a group tour of nine or fewer people. There were 42 people on the tour. My maths may not be the best, but I make that almost five times more people than advertised. As we only saw bus drivers on the day who just had lists of names, there was no possibility of making a complaint..

yuju9249 December 2018

Our guide Peter and Kim was super nice and kind. The lunch at the vineyard was also delicious. We had a great time.

Marcus J November 2018

Great day out, thoroughly enjoyed it, lovely vineyards, great lunch and relaxing cruise back to Perth . Thanks to Mike, Ed and the team at SVT and the lovely staff at the vineyards .

Kerry S September 2018

Great day. Morning spent cruising the swan river, onto bus, lunch then 2 boutique wineries for wine tasting and cheese platters included, 1 brewery for tastings with potato wedges included to nibble on and then onto the chocolate factory for tastings of chocolates and a truffle. Were dropped back at hotel. 7.5hours of total enjoyment. Keith was our bus driver who was a delight. Great value and highly recommend it.

John M August 2018

My wife and I did this tour. The bus guides are helpful, informative and engaging. The vineyards and tastings were excellent, good measures and interested staff. It’s a great way to spend a day. Lunch was good quality and guess what; yes, mire wine! We were in the bus tour but asked if we could come back by boat. No problem; just paid the difference. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful and ‘can-do’. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Go try it!

A wonderfully organized tour. My wife an I live in Perth and were lucky enough to win this tour in a raffle. Thank you Keith for the very informative bus ride thru Perth and Guildford. Live in Perth all my life and you provided some very interesting facts that I never knew about Perth and the Swan Valley region. The wineries were of top quality and so was lunch. Never felt rushed but fitted so much into one day. The river cruise back was also fantastic. A great way to finish the day. Highly recommend this tour to any visitors to Perth or people of Perth that are looking for a really nice way to spend a day. Just leave the kids at home. :-)

Michael our driver was very knowledgeable about the area.It was really interesting to learn about & taste the different wines from the different wineries. Lunch was great. It was a wonderful day trip out & to cruise back to Perth on the ferry.

After having to delay our work Xmas Function, this was definitely worth the wait... What a fabulous day out. Our hostess Kim was brilliant, bubbly and friendly. Amazing local wineries with a great selection of wines and cheeses. Lunch stop was delicious. Cruising back to Perth, very relaxing, again staff brilliant, funny and full of surprises with one of the hostess singing us all the way home, awesome. Thank you for a great day out.. we will be back.

Adele T January 2018

The wineries we visited were really generous and the wine was great. Lunch was so delicious and all the people on the tour were friendly and interesting. The river cruise back was fun, except the live cabaret style singing was a little unexpected and weird. The pick up went well although we had tracked into the city only to drive past our accomodation on the bus. I recommend calling the company beforehand and checking about a hotel pickup.

Alistair B January 2018

A fun day out and well organised. An informative tour and well worth the trip. Good wine and great entertainment on the ferry back to Perth.

We decided to do the day tour with the cruise back down the Swan River and had an absolutely brilliant day! We got to try lots of great wines and learned about the wines and the Swan Valley from the excellent staff (who were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable) We ended up on the coach with a great bunch of people and the company made the day one to remember. Loved all of the wineries and breweries we visited and also filled ourselves up with chocolate at the chocolate factory. Lunch was delicious and the cruise back was also good fun. Would really recommend Swan Valley Tours to anyone looking for a fab day out - we will definitely be taking any of our visitors from home to do another tour!
