‘The Prom’ as it is known to many people, is one of Victoria’s most loved and cherished natural attractions. Located at the southernmost region of mainland Australia, this wildlife haven will inspire and intrigue even the most discerning traveller, with its panoramic views, pristine white beaches, coastal forests, cool climate rainforests and well-preserved walking tracks.

The prom is home to many marsupials, such as kangaroo’s and wombats, native birds and other native animals such as emus, which with a bit of luck you are able to see up-close. The best way to explore the Prom is on foot, so you will no doubt enjoy your stroll along some spectacular tracks and be entertained by the pure white quartz ‘singing sands’ of Squeaky Beach. An opportunity is available to enjoy either a rainforest walk at Lilly Pilly Rainforest or amazing panoramic views offered on the Verekers Outlook track, or Mount Bishop track (easy to medium graded walks).

This was a great tour. A couple of hours drive with stops to the park followed by a really awesome hike (about 1.5 hrs including a little time at the top for photos). Then a trip to the squeaky beach (plus another good 40 min walk back to the camp site. We had some time at the end to go to the old overgrown airstrip and got to see some wild kangaroos which was great. Our guide was really knowledgeable and friendly the whole day. If you're really into these kinds of parks staying a few days is probably worth it, but if you only have a day to spare this is a great tour!

Lots of hiking/walking. Tour guide let us walk at our own pace which was nice for us older people. Scenery was absolutely beautiful. Quite enjoyed this tour.

Joel was our guide for the day trip from Melbs. Pick up was on time and pick up driver very funny and entertaining. He dropped us off with Joel. Joel’s a fantastic tour guide. He clearly loves what he does and loves his country. His enthusiasm and sense of humour is infectious. Top marks mate. The day was very well organised and well thought out. I’d rate the tour and Joel 10/10 Thanks for a great day out!

I did three different tours with this tour operator and I enjoyed all of them! Day schedules are quite dense and you are always busy discovering something new or being amazed by spectacular landmarks or wildlife! Guides did their best to show us the best corners and all the animals one could see in such conditions even if it meant for them to do an extra hour of work! I would like to thank in particular Joel for his everlasting good mood which transforms a long road trip into a funny and enjoyable journey, and his fascination with local nature which becomes quite contagious :). I also appreciated that he was very attentive with every group member's needs (and especially with people with disability) and adjusted his suggestions accordingly. I would definitely like to do another tour with him!

Picked up promptly from Melbourne Hotel, guide Chris was friendly and helpful giving relevant commentary where required . A full day with great walks in beautiful countryside, it was a good mix of beach and bush, finishing with a wildlife walk full of sightings of native wildlife. The whole tour was well run, but relaxed and casual. Everyone was out at their ease and the small group meant a more personal service. Excellent tour would recommend highly. The only downside was the weather but the guide made the best of this, arranging the itinerary accordingly.

My husband and I went on the day trip to Wilson’s Prom on 24th Jan. Had such a great day. Our guides were Yaz and Alex who were both awesome! Massive thanks to them both. A great mix of information and fun along the drive, and they looked after us well making rest stops and refilling water bottles as needed. Walked up to the top of Mt Bishop and the views were incredible, well worth the uphill walk. Highlight of the day for us was the wildlife walk, to see kangaroos and emus in the wild was just amazing. The Prom is beautiful and has largely been left untouched, a real taste of nature as it should be.

We saw the prom and it was worth the hike. Hub survived carrying the little one. So yes, you can do this with a baby. We also saw kangaroos, wombats and emus out in the bush. Our guide Cloe was warm and knowledgeable. Totally recommend if you don't wanna drive. #bunyiptours #theprom #melbourne

I took the tour Wilsons Promontory and it definitely exceeded my expectations. Big thanks to Emily, who I could listen to all day talk about this wonderful country. She made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the day and that we had enough time at each site. I was on my own but didn’t feel like that at all. Everyone got on so well, thanks to Emily. A wonderful place to visit and probably my favourite. The beauty is out of this world, even on a dull day. Thanks again for a fab tour. Best of luck for 2020 ☘️

Email communication with Bunyip tours before trip, they told me there would be three hikes and duration of each, but not the distance. Punctual pickup Cramped 24 seater tour bus (but it’s the same with all other tour companies) Punctual departure from city Good, regular toilet breaks every 60-90mins en route Stopped in small town to buy packed lunch and for a morning coffee (both at own cost), could buy from coffee shop or small supermarket with limited options. It’s therefore advisable to bring your own lunch if you have specific dietary concerns Hiked 7.2km return to Mount Bishop, uphill. Or option of flat Lilly Gully walk 2km. Own packed lunch at top of Mount Bishop with beautiful views of Squeaky Beach. Squeaky Beach and sandy Tidal River hike 3km, mild uphill. Saw wombat, snakes, rosella birds. Prom Wildlife walk 2.5km but we only walked 1km and saw a wallaby, more than 20 kangaroos, emus, wombat. Back to Melbourne at 9pm, as I was one of the last stops. No dinner en route back to Melbourne. Definitely 5* for our enthusiastic guide Cloe.

We went Mt. Bishop, squeaky beach and wildlife walk. It was really cozy to walk in the sun and cool weather, the scenery on the top of mt. Bishop was spectacular. We were lucky to see many animals, and really lucky to have a close look to the wombat on the path of tidal river. Cloe was the guide, energetic, interesting and professional. Highly recommend this tour!

Leonie and Pohl (lol, sorry Paul) were friendly and attentive to our small group. Perhaps some more facts about the area or specific plants would've been nice during the hike - but then the beautiful scenery mostly spoke for itself. The first hike up Mt Bishop is about an hour both ways, and not too challenging - it is definitely a hike though, so bring proper footwear! The second was self-guided and across Squeaky beach to some wetlands. Though it made sense for this part to be self-guided as the guides had to drive the bus around to pick us up at the end, I did find it a bit odd we were sort of left to our own devices, especially since we were lucky and had two guides so one could've come with us. Didn't mind it though as the track is clearly sign-posted and I could take my time taking pictures. The wildlife walk was a bit disappointing, but it's wildlife - you can't force anything. Some minor points for improvement: - Communication prior to the tour should have included that we would stop on the way to buy some lunch if needed. I greatly appreciated this stop, but had I not brought my wallet I would've had no lunch. The email just said 'bring snacks and water'. - It's a long drive - about 5,5/6 hours total. I didn't mind the drive, but again would've liked to know beforehand that I would not be back in Melbourne before 8PM. But those are minor points, I enjoyed the day very much and loved the gorgeous scenery! Can definitely recommend this.

We(me and my wife) went on a day trip to Wilson Promontory, 'the Prom' as you call it on 6th November'19. We had a great time and enjoyed a lot. We will like to thank Leonie, our guide for the day and Paul, who was accompanying her, the way they conducted the tour. Special thanks to Leonie for making special efforts in spotting the wild life. Thanks a ton. Best Regards, Shreyasi and Raj

Overall it was very good experience. Beautiful views, nice walk to the top of mountain and then going down to the squeaky beach and beautiful view along the way. The driver cum tour guide, Terry, was very nice ,friendly and provided a lot of information during the tour. But, I believe it is bit rushed. We had to kind of race against time to complete all activities. Also, in the 21 seater vehicle the seats were not very comfortable. We needed to spend 6 to 7 hours in the bus and thus more comfortable seats could be helpful. Also, we went to the top of mount Bishop whereas some other tours go to the top of mount Oberon. From the pictures, it seems that the view from the top of mount Oberon is better than that of mount Bishop.

Trish98 October 2019

Terry picked us up near our hotel and was a great guide, who did what he could to find wildlife for us to view. For some reason we expected to see more wildlife.

Alan is a good guide. 如果天氣能更好一點就更棒了。 但幸好也不差,在健行的時候雨沒有下大。 相當適合喜歡戶外和親近大自然的人參加, 雖然坐車時間長一些,還是值得。 走了兩條健行路分別是 Mt Bishop(3.5km/1.5hr)和 Tidal river(2.5km/50min) 以及squeaky beach.

Nat987654321 October 2019

Completed the 1 day Wilson's Prom trip with Bunyip. Alan our guide for the day was awesome, friendly and knowledgable. Clearly enjoys what he does. The day is a long day but the scenery and views were incredible. Early pick up but means that you get to the lunch spot on the top of the mountain before other groups and dont have to share the fab views. It's about an hour hike up but it's not overly tough or tricky as their is a trail through the rainforest. Then 45 mins back down before you go to squeaky beach! Squeaky beach is pretty but the optional second approx hour long trek is stunning and well worth doing. Unfortunately no wombats for us to spot on the day but plenty of evidence they were around, saw emus and wallabies though which kinda made up for it along with the array of birds that are found in the area. Alan even somehow managed to hold the rain off for the day for us!!! One thing I think would improve the trip would be more info about the birds and wildlife you may see whilst hiking. We got some good info about the plants but it would be cool if you were told that call is for that bird or that colourful bird is called a whatever. It doesnt seem to be done on many tours at all that I've found in Australia and whilst I'm not massively into bird watching it is still nice to learn more about the native animals and plants. Could possibly even be done on the bus with a crib sheet saying these are some of the birds and other wildlife you might come across or something so you have an idea what you can look out for. However, Alan was great at trying to find the bigger animals so cant fault that at all.

ttiinngg23 October 2019

We walked on Mt. Bitshop and Tidal River tracks and they were as beautiful as movie scene ! Our tour guide Alan is a very nice and friendly guy, and very professional at local history, natural geometry and wildlife.

Neelam M October 2019

I had an amazing day at wilsons prom. got to see everything that was listed in the brochure, including wombats. and was well entertained by Leonie!!! Many thanks, Neelam, UK.

Wong L September 2019

Really friendly and knowledgeable tour guide! Pick up and drop off was punctual and we were able to make the most of our trip!

GrandTour664282 September 2019

我們運氣很好,一天能看到四隻野生袋熊而且完全不怕人!風景也很棒,在山頂吃午餐吃到捨不得離開,還有會唧唧叫的海灘,最重要的是導遊非常熱情,絕對值得推薦! We saw 4 wombats in one day (and countless kangaroos)!! And the landscape from the top of Mt. Bishop (where we had our lunch) was fantastic!! Our guide Mel was so friendly and passionate, we could all tell how enthusiastic she is to her job and the nature and animals. Definitely recommended!!

I had a wonderful day exploring Wilson Promontory. Chris is a brilliant tour guide, full of knowledge, fun and good driver. We spotted a lot of Australian wild animals in the Busch. Really great experience discover the National Park, a lot of fun and culturally interesting. Highly recommend Bunyip Tours, thank you so much guys ! :)

Scorpio90126 July 2019

What a wonderful day we had at Wilson’s Promontory. We were fortunate to have not only one guide but two! Due to a training day for one of the guides. Both Alan & Reece ‘True Aussie Locals’ :) were so friendly & helpful through out the day, but also very knowledgeable. The scenery, wildlife is amazing. There is a lot of walking on this tour but you do have the option to not do the additional beach walk if you feel it might be too much. It was made even more special as we had a smaller group than other tours that I have done in the past & everyone was so chatty throughout the day. Thanks again guys!

Had a fantastic day out to Wilson's Prom with Craig as our Tour Guide. Started off a little slow, as we had to wait awhile at a place to pick up some people. Took about half an hour to pick up everyone. It was a rainy day, so we had a half full bus of about 13. I imagine when you do this in the summer you would get a full bus. It was about a 3 hour drive down to Wilson's Prom. We stopped in Leongatha for half an hour for a toilet stop and to get some breakfast and stock up on food. Breakfast options were McDonalds and Subway. There is another toilet stop near Yanakie before heading to the first stop at the Wildlife Walk. Spent about 40 minutes here, Craig allowed us plenty of time to see some Kangaroo's and Emu's. I loved coming here as the view's was incredible (was like Hawaii). Then we were headed to Mount Bishop for a long hike. (This is where "moderate fitness' comes into play). It's a 75 minute hike up and a 25 minute hike down, with a 20 minute lunch break at the top. I'm reasonably fit, but we all found this challenging. Craig gives you an option to hike up or do another hike back down and have lunch in the bus (but you would have to wait about an hour for the rest of the group to return). We spent about 20 minutes up the top taking photos before heading back. After the hike we arrived into the small township of Tidal River. Here we had a toilet stop and a chance to buy more snacks in the general store. I also advise to buy souvenirs in this store. Then we headed to Squeaky Beach for a walk along the beach. Was just so beautiful. We spent about an hour here, so lucky.. as we were the only ones there. Then we were back on the road and heading back to Melbourne. Again, stopping for toilet breaks and dinner at McDonalds, KFC or Subway. And got back to Melbourne around 7.30pm Craig was a fantastic tour guide and excellent driver. He made sure we had all the chances to see Wallabies and other wildlife. He made sure he got to know everyone and had good knowledge. The only issue I had was that I thought we would be hiking up Mt Oberon after emailing Bunyip Tours who confirmed this. But was super glad we climbed Mt Bishop, as I was super stuffed afterwards.
