Here’s the very best of Victoria’s wildlife, nature and farming heritage. The Penguin Parade is an absolute ‘must’ on every visitor’s itinerary, but this tour gives you so much more. First stop is Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, where you can get up close to wallabies on the wallaby walk (you may see little joeys peeking out of their mothers’ pouches) and a koala (additional expense applies).

On tiny Churchill Island there’s an 1850’s heritage farm with strutting peacocks, shaggy Highland cattle, traditional draft horses, sheep shearing and working dogs in action. Then on to the Nobbies and Australia’s largest Fur Seal colony at Seal Rocks. Finally, the ultimate attraction: hundreds of Little Penguins emerging from the ocean and waddling across the beach to their sand dune burrows.
This is a typical itinerary for this product

I joined to this tour with my 8yo son in December 2019. Chris was warm and friendly guide, and has deep knowledge on the history and nature of south Victoria. We learned a lot from him on the way down to Phillip Island. The tour is packed with visits to interesting and beautiful places but have appropriate free time which we really appreciated. This was one the best load trips in my life. My son were talking about the trip often even now (8 months after the trip). Thank you Chris for your great guide.

This was a well organized full day activity tour with a number of stops. Each stop had adequate time to explore/enjoy. We stopped at Moonlit sanctuary and had plenty of opportunity to feed Kangaroos/wallabees, lots of Koalas to be seen. Lunch was provided at this stop on the tour (food was not great but that was from the Sanctuary, not the tour itself). Next stop was a Sheep farm, then Cowes for Dinner, the Nobbies and finally the Penguin Parade. What a joy those cute Penguins are. We did the upgrade to the VIP Ranger tour and it did not disappoint! Plenty of activity during the day so if you did not care for one stop, another was not far behind...but there was no rushing through. It was well timed. Our guide was pleasant to be around for the day. thank you Sophie!

Ricky is a legend! Very informative tour throughout the entire day. He kept us entertained and took great care of our family! Thanks Ricky

The tour itself was really great! Got to do a variety of activities and we did not feel rushed anywhere. The penguin viewing was fun, but we actually saw more closely the penguins when we walked back to the visitor center and saw them scurrying back to their borrows for the night. The reason for the loss of one star was some girls on the tour who, after the first stop, basically "stole" our seats on the bus, relegating us to the back.

we had a full day from 10am to 11 30 pm.we covered various sites from an animal sanctuary with lunch ,to tour of farm area on churchill island to the bobbies to finally the penguin parade.we ,luckily, had sara as our guide the entire day.she informed us about what we will be seeing and tidbits of information along the way.during periods of longs drive she played this amazing easy music.i remembered at least 90 percent of the songs;there was no rap so we thoroughly enjoyed the respite.sara stopped at a farm where we enjoyed sheep was amazing how she picked up the sheep and sheared the wool off the sheep.shearing requires skill and strength which the young lady had in abundance.we saw a demo on bull whipping and how the dogs controlled the sheep.the dogs ran rings around the sheep to keep them was amazing how they controlled the sheep.the same person who sheared the sheep did the presentation of the dogs.she told us that these dogs could cost 10000 each. she told us the dog could control 200 sheep but for our presentation 25 would do.sara told us to the shore line to observe pyramid rock and to the bobbies where we could walk around the wooden deck to get an up close few of the coast line.finally we made it to the penguin parade to see these guys close up.we sat on bleachers maybe 15 feet from the area of their arrival.the penguins arrived in groups and waddled up the hillside to their was a magical site to see these little creatures make the march obvious to the crowds watching.they made that march and nothing could stop them.sara than took us to out hotels after a long and totally enjoyable day.sara.the tour guide made our day so special.she give up great information and answered all questions.she was delightful.

This is a must do. Sarah went above and beyond. She took us to all the included stops plus made an additional stop at a beach and a back road to view wild animals. The tour was paced perfectly and our guide was very informational. Highly recommend.

Jake was great although riding in the back of the bus not so smooth. However, that would be my only negative. I also highly recommend the ranger guided tour. This tour is well put together and very happy at all we were able to experience!!

This tour was fantastic! Corey, our guide, was great. He picked us up/dropped us off a 1/2 block from our hotel. We were taken to 4 different activities and each one was fantastic. Our objective was to see the Penguin Parade (which was awesome), but along the way we spent time with a koala at Moonlit Sanctuary, enjoyed sheepherding and sheep shearing and petting a horse at Churchill Farm, and the gorgeous view at Pyramid Rock. I would highly recommend this tour!

Did the Philip island tour which included Churchill island and the penguin parade, was slot of fun and is definitely well worth doing

I had a great time on this tour, augmented by our highly entertaining and informative guide/driver, Stefan. We visited every place listed in the info above, and had plenty of time to see and do everything we wanted for a true Aussie nature experience. Pet a koala (extra charge ) .. check. Feed a kangaroo .. check. See a sheep herding demonstration by a border collie with a mind of his own, watch a sheep get sheared, see a gorgeous sunset at Nobbies, see wallabies in the wild, and of course, see the penguin parade ... check, check, check, and check. And I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed Stefan's rolling commentary throughout the day. It made the time fly by. Thanks, "S". Terry M

This tour was suggested to me by my daughter-in-law, and I'm so glad that I chose it. First, they were quick to answer my inquiry of where I could meet them to be picked up. It was a small tour of 22 people and our driver, Jake, was very friendly and helpful. He took us to Moonlit Sanctuary, where we were able to pet and feed the wallabies and kangaroos, and see many more animals. Jake made sure that we were there in time to sign up for a koala encounter where, for $20 aud, we could pet the koala and take our own pictures and/or videos. This was the only place that we visited, including Taronga Zoo and Featherdale Wildlife Park, that allowed you to touch and pet the koala. Some other places charged $20-$25 to have them take a photo of you standing next to the koala but you weren't allowed to pet it. We then visited a farm to see some farm animals and a sheep being sheared which in my opinion wasn't necessary, but it was a break in the long ride to Phillip Island. After that, we went to a beach town for lunch before heading to the beach to see the penguins come to shore. Jake made sure we were one of the earliest to arrive there. That was important because many large tour buses of people come to see this event. Be sure to purchase the Premium Plus option for a few dollars more because that allowed us to sit in a private viewing area. Because we were one of the earliest to arrive, we sat right in front where we could see the penguins come out of the water and pass right in front of us! It was truly an amazing experience! I definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants the full experience of being with the wallabies, kangaroos, and koalas, highlighted by the awesome close-up viewing of the adorable penguins coming ashore.

This was a very good tour, just a small group which is ideal when doing trips. We had a problem with the pick up as they only go to certain hotels, so we had to catch a taxi from and to our hotel, which just adds to the cost of the trip. We were at the Bayview on the park hotel, which is about a 50 minute walk to the centre all the pick ups seemed to be either for the centre or the other side, maybe you could look at having a drop off nearer to this area of hotels as coming home at 11.30 at night nobody wants to be walking home? The guide was good , did feel a little rushed at times and was a bit erratic with her driving. The wildlife centre was good as was the farm, the tea and cakes was a nice break and enjoyed by all, could maybe have stayed here (farm) a little longer. The views of the sea were amazing we nearly didn't get to see the pyramid rock and its great views as the driver wasn't sure she wanted to go, fortunately she changed her mind!!! The penguins were brilliant when you get to the boardwalk and it splits to main viewing and special viewing hang round the gate to special viewing as once the penguins start to arrive they open this gate to all and this is where the penguins walk up to their nests. If you want to see them come out of the sea you do need to go to the beach.

Great tour with a bit of dead time in the afternoon while waiting for sunset and the penguins which are amazing. Our guide Terry was very knowledgeable and friendly.

HappyTrippinMamma February 2020

I read about so many tour agencies and combinations and couldn’t be happier with my final choice. Bunyip was able to help me not only see penguins, sheep, ocean views and pet a koala (bucket list!!), but getting out of Melbourne with fresh air and sunshine the day after arriving from the US helps combat jet lag. This tour went to Moonlit Sanctuary where lunch was included, and for about $20 AUD, I was able to pet the most adorable koala. So soft and cuddly!! The kangaroos were absolutely not interested in food and napped in the shade. Churchill Island included a sheep herding and shearing demonstration along with a chance at whip cracking and great views. Pyramid rock offered cliff views of crashing waves, and a stop at the Nobbies let us see baby penguins before dark in their burrows. Graeme was an professional guide who helped us hear Skippy the Bush Kangaroo and other fun music on the 2 hour journey out (then back). I would highly recommend the guided ranger tour upgrade to get closer to the penguins, have a guide tell you about the little guys, and get a headset to hear the guide along with binoculars to see the penguins come in. A fabulous mini adventure before the work week started. Worth every penny and much easier than trying to do it on your own.

Louise_N February 2020

Great trip, lots of interesting places to go to before the visit to see the little penguins. Our tour guide told us lots of fascinating stories too.

Kellie L. Thank you so much for having been an amazing guide: so patient, kind and simpatic! You made the difference for this trip, your advices and explications were very precious. I sincerely recommend this company. Thanks again and wish you good luck for your future!

Our Phillip Island adventure was a surprise of sheep herding, shearing and whip practicing as well as beautiful scenery. Seeing the Penguin Parade was cold (in October - bring heavy coat) and somewhat anti-climatic watching them arrive on the beach. Seeing them waddle up the hill, to their "home" was great fun!

Gitti2020 February 2020

Was a great day. Super guide Rohan, perfect small group. I am happy. I'd recommend tours with bunyip at every time.

kelseyo238 February 2020

Had a wonderful day trip with Bunyip Tours to Philip Island and the surrounding area. Our guide, Rohan, was spectacular—extremely knowledgeable about the landscape, wildlife, and history, and he worked hard (for a long day!) to make sure all ~24 guests were comfortable and knew exactly what the plan and schedule was for each of our 5 stops. The moonlight sanctuary was neat—tons of wildlife and a great lunch, and we stopped at a farm, surf beach, and the beach town for dinner before the main event to see the penguins. While there was a lot of time spent in the bus, it worked well for us as we preferred not to hire a car for the day and there was wifi and ac and it was a comfortable ride. More economical and sustainable than adding another car to the road also. They were great about pickup and drop-off to our accommodation as well. Highly recommend going with bunyip for the day trip!

TravisBrier February 2020

Had a wonderful day with Bunyip going down to Phillip Island. Between the Moonlit Sanctuary, Churchill Island, surf beaches, the Nobbies, and of course, the Penguin Parade, the day was jam-packed without feeling rushed. (Be warned: you’re signing up for a 14 hour day! It’s fun, but long) Our guide, Rohan, was awesome - he went to great efforts to call all 22 of us by our first names (incredibly rare for a single day tour), was knowledgeable with a good sense of humor, and did a wonderful job getting us to all the sites on the tour. During the sunset at the Penguin Parade, he was tracking down our group members with a couple blankets in hand and making sure everybody was warm and taken care of. Safe driver, excellent guide, top notch overall. There’s loads of companies operating tours out of Melbourne, based on this experience I’d definitely do another one with Bunyip. Only critical feedback is I felt a bit rushed at the Moonlit Sanctuary, adding on an extra 15 minutes there would make it a perfect length.

We had a fabulous trip. Penguins were adorable and so fascinating to watch them come out of the ocean and up to their nests. Our guide, Jake Smithson aka Brad Pitt was so helpful and gave us so much information particularly about the animals we were seeing -- koala, kangeroo, waklabees, and of course penguins. My husband is disabled and Jake went out of his way to accommodate to his needs. Thanks to Jake we had a great time.

gwenr867 January 2020

A comfortable coach and a personable guide (Chris), whose knowledge and flexibility catered so well for a diverse group of 'tourists' with wide-ranging expectations, provided the basis for a stress-free and very rewarding exploration of some of the state's most fascinating attractions. The fabulous little penguins were just the culmination of a day filled with memorable experiences.

pernillegrambentsen January 2020

A day full of amazing experiences and a very knowledgeable guide - Ricky - who with enthusiasm gave us lots of good insights of the places and animals we saw. I could list quite a few highlights - it is really highly recommendable to take this trip, we covered a lot in one day, in my opinion all good and nothing should be left out. Fun little detail to play ‘animal songs’ for koalas, kangaroos and penguins. Thank you for a great and memorable day!

minkyworld January 2020

Courtney is the bomb ❤️ she was very organised, kind, considerate, helpful and told us so many stories about everything we ever went past by. Just a few hiccups around getting people to be on time so we can leave on time but even then Courtney made sure that we’re on time for everything so we can get our money worth!!!
