Here’s the very best of Victoria’s wildlife, nature and farming heritage. The Penguin Parade is an absolute ‘must’ on every visitor’s itinerary, but this tour gives you so much more. First stop is Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, where you can get up close to wallabies on the wallaby walk (you may see little joeys peeking out of their mothers’ pouches) and a koala (additional expense applies).

On tiny Churchill Island there’s an 1850’s heritage farm with strutting peacocks, shaggy Highland cattle, traditional draft horses, sheep shearing and working dogs in action. Then on to the Nobbies and Australia’s largest Fur Seal colony at Seal Rocks. Finally, the ultimate attraction: hundreds of Little Penguins emerging from the ocean and waddling across the beach to their sand dune burrows.
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, 550 Tyabb-Tooradin Rd, Pearcedale, Victoria 3912 Australia

Great trip, lots of interesting places to go to before the visit to see the little penguins. Our tour guide told us lots of fascinating stories too.

Kelly L, our guide was wonderful. The whole day trip was so well thought and well organized. Everyone knew exactly what time to meet and what to see because she had a notice board in the car to communicate with us ahead of time.

After a tiring hot day we had tea and cakes as refreshment.

It was an enjoyable trip.

Thank you Cloe for the wonderful experience. We couldn't be happier we the tour. Everything was fantastic, the road trip, the wildlife sanctuary, the cakes and the coffee courtesy of Cloe, the penguin parade, everything was perfect!!

Well worth it! The bus fit max 20 people including the driver. We made pit stops along the way, but to be fair, these are simply fillers for the main event! Penguins! We booked the tour that included a private ranger, and boy was that the right choice. This allowed us to have our own private area along side the beach, binoculars and headsets (ranger talking and explaining).

PS: August is windy and cold! Bundle Up!
PPS: No photography allowed, and they yell (nicely) for you to put them away!

The trip began with a rather punctual pick up by our tour guide, Rob. Overall, the trip was efficient with enough time for each attraction. I think it was worth the while to get the Koala option to be able to get close with the furry beast! Even though it was raining most of the time, Rob's suggestion of a disposable parka worked well. My only thought was that we did not have much time to take a sip at the cafes in the various attractions - it was a very cold day! Maybe some 10 or 15 mins extra at each stop would have been good.

Almost everything was above my expectation. Chris was excellent guide! I think he showed us more than he had to.

Outstanding tour! We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our long day out with our exceptional guide Kurt, so personable, friendly and knowledgable. A prompt hotel pickup in a very comfy coach with a group of approx 20 was followed by a superb visit to Moonlit Sanctuary. What a treat to see Koalas, Kanga, Wallabies right up close and to feed, so very special. Lunch at the Sanctuary was perfect, a good barbeque. Churchill Island visit was amazing, we loved the farm visit and the sheep shearing demo, and then time out just to stroll and enjoy. Next stop was the Koala Conservation Centre and a stop for afternoon tea which was provided...again really fantastic seeing Koalas in their own environment and to see the wonderful work being done there. On to The Nobbies with its glorious scenery, and a walk along the boardwalk with its stunning views....then the cherry on top, off to Phillip Islands Penguin Parade. Nothing can prepare one for the treat that awaits is simply stunning. After a delicious quick supper in the centre we made our way to the platforms from where the parade is viewed. With the Plus Package we were afforded seats on a special raised platform. Although very cold..and one must dress up very warmly, .the spectacle is out of this world. Seeing nature at play like this is thrilling as one watches hundreds of Fairy Penguins make their way onto the shore, then parade past the platforms altogether to their wow wow!! We absolutely loved the experience. A very comfy and safe 90 minute trip back to Melbourne city and a drop off right at our hotel capped this absolutely outstanding day. This has to be one of the best Viator tours we have ever done in any city and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you Kurt for treating us to a sensational day and for sharing your very much appreciated. We loved it!

Appreciated the flexibility in changing both pick up and drop off points to accommodate us. Liked the leisurely paced. Churchill Heritage was a favorite stop.

Have just returned from a month touring Australia during which time we sampled several day tours and this was definitely the best of the best! Our guide Chris provided a fun day taking us to a variety of places, many of which were not initially stated on the description of what to expect. My highlight of the day was seeing a ram being sheared on Churchill island. The penguin parade was disappointingly commercialised, but the lunch stop at a wildlife park provided the opportunity to get up close to kangaroo and wallabys as did the tree top walk at the koala reserve and our visit to the penguins headland nesting site. Well worth the money

The tour guide was very knowledgable and friendly.

Absolutely amazing. Probably the best day of our entire 3 week holiday. It's a long day with a very late drop-off but fortunately not an early start. We love wildlife and scenery and there was plenty of both. Moonlit Sanctuary was terrific and we actually got to cuddle a koala! The Penguin Parade on Phillip Island was mind-blowing. Seeing those little penguins come out of the sea, cross the rocks and then make their way at varying speeds to find their burrows up to 2 km away. It was a privilege to watch these determined creatures. Our guide Kurt was terrific, informative, helpful, very calm and good fun. A day which will live in our memories.

I didn't know much about Moonlit Sanctuaty but it turned out the be one of the highlights of our trip in Melbourne! And don't be afraid when you didn't get a front seat for penguin watching. The little guys will soon walk around the whole area so everybody will get a good chance to see them closely!

cutiesealion April 2016

The entire day was about animals! Saw my favourite wombat, fed a LOT of wallabies and kangaroos, and enjoyed the grand finale of watching hundreds of little penguins returning home from work! If all you want is to get close to Aussie animals, perhaps even to cuddle and feed them, this is the tour for you

Melody J March 2020

The tour itself was really great! Got to do a variety of activities and we did not feel rushed anywhere. The penguin viewing was fun, but we actually saw more closely the penguins when we walked back to the visitor center and saw them scurrying back to their borrows for the night.

The reason for the loss of one star was some girls on the tour who, after the first stop, basically "stole" our seats on the bus, relegating us to the back.

jane B March 2020

This was a very good tour, just a small group which is ideal when doing trips. We had a problem with the pick up as they only go to certain hotels, so we had to catch a taxi from and to our hotel, which just adds to the cost of the trip. We were at the Bayview on the park hotel, which is about a 50 minute walk to the centre all the pick ups seemed to be either for the centre or the other side, maybe you could look at having a drop off nearer to this area of hotels as coming home at 11.30 at night nobody wants to be walking home?
The guide was good , did feel a little rushed at times and was a bit erratic with her driving. The wildlife centre was good as was the farm, the tea and cakes was a nice break and enjoyed by all, could maybe have stayed here (farm) a little longer. The views of the sea were amazing we nearly didn't get to see the pyramid rock and its great views as the driver wasn't sure she wanted to go, fortunately she changed her mind!!! The penguins were brilliant when you get to the boardwalk and it splits to main viewing and special viewing hang round the gate to special viewing as once the penguins start to arrive they open this gate to all and this is where the penguins walk up to their nests. If you want to see them come out of the sea you do need to go to the beach.

Mark S March 2020

Great tour with a bit of dead time in the afternoon while waiting for sunset and the penguins which are amazing. Our guide Terry was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Elsa P January 2018

I highly recommend this tour for the sights. The penguin parade and stop at Moonlit Sanctuary were fantastic! Got to cuddle up to a koala, hand-feed kangaroos, and see hundreds of penguins as they dash back to Phillip Island after a day in the ocean bring a sweater and blanket or you'll have to buy those on sight - it gets chilly. Truly a one-of-a-kind wildlife experience. Our guide Max did not provide much commentary throughout the trip which was a letdown. He merely carried out a side conversation with one of the tour takers, but did so very loudly which made it difficult to try and sleep especially on the way back from Penguin Island at close to midnight. It would have been nice to be provided with more information and guidance as opposed to just being driven from place to place.

Micheal H September 2017

The tour was great, was able to see a large amount of wild life and local sites, the highlight of our trip. The tour guide was awesome, she made sure we were on time and had a good amount of time to spend at each site.
The down side was the lack of Wifi on the bus, our other tour had it and it made it over the top.
Well worth the money. Highlights: Watching the Penguin Parade, hand feeding the Kangaroos, seeing the sleeping koala's, the heritage farm, and Aimee's amazing conservation details, she is passionate about preserving wildlife and making sure they are protected for the long haul.

Susan T June 2017

This trip was really good. The only thing I didn't like was calling it a small group. A small group I would expect to be under 20 this was for 27. However the guide was great and the locations we visited amazing. The penguin parade was really good would recommend upgrading to the penguin plus so you can see the penguins coming out the sea.

shaun November 2016

Enjoyed the trip especially the penguin parade. Tour guide is responsible and take care of everything.

hamokmonky October 2016

The sites visited during this tour are top quality and I would recommend all of them. The Phillip Island Penguin Parade is of course the highlight, but I found the farm to be an excellent stop on the tour as well, it was extremely well time budgeted and we were able to see everything we expected without feeling rushed. We even were able to see a lamb being born! I have two complaints that make this a 4 star instead of a 5 star tour: The time at the moonlit sanctuary was very rushed, and we were not well informed of our options. We had been in Australia for 3 weeks now, and had already held a koala but the koala encounter was the only one advertised. We would have loooved to have done the dingo encounter, which is unique and no where had we been had we seen such a thing offered, but it was right at lunch time and we were not told of its existence until after we ate lunch. We would have gladly deferred lunch by 15 minutes to do the dingo encounter! So that was disappointing. The other complaint is that the food place we were taken to on Phillip Island was terrible, not the food itself, but the way the establishment was run, it was like they had never seen that level of people buying food there before although I am sure it is a daily occurrence. It was expensive, disorganized, and very much a disappointment although it did not ruin the greatness of the rest of the tour, only detracted slightly. The koala sanctuary was nice as well, but we had seen better on Kangaroo Island. If we had not been there previously, we would have been more impressed.

Karen June 2016

My family and I enjoyed the Penguins tour with stop at moonlit sanctuary. It was packed with fun-filled activities such as penguin spotting at The Nobbies, tea picnic at Churchill farm and board-walking at the Koala conservation centre. Moonlit sanctuary and seeing the fairy penguins were a bonus.

Amy I October 2018

This should NOT be listed as a small group, 26 people is not a small group! this is the first time that I have been disappointed with a tour purchased from you. There were 26 people on this
BUS not a Van that you normally have with a small group. There was no microphone so rather than telling what little he did as drove, he spoke to us then played the radio with ads and new for entertainment as we drove. He dropped us off at venues and picked us up with no interaction while there. Such in impersonal none special day! So sad by this it has left a poor taste and now I am nervous to book another tour.
