great experience till we got to Kuranda. Arrived just before 2pm to find no food available to eat as stores were out of food could not go on boat tour as cableway ceased operation same time boat tour ended. Clearly not a well organised operation between cableway and Kuranda businesses. Got to the cableway at Kuranda to make our way back. Noted Covid social distancing in your group signage in the queue which was great to see. Though my husband and myself were force to share gondola with another couple in the same closed environment no 1.5 m distancing no masks offered. my husband and I got off only to be told by the staff member “ now you will have to wait till the end of the queue” like naughty children we waited for all the other people to get on before we could get back on. Certainly not worth the money or the demoralising way we were treated. I spoke to the manager when we got off only to be told that the Queensland Government approved for them to able to mix groups. As a healthcare worker this doesn’t make sense, socially distance in groups outside but we can put you in a gondola (closed environment) with a couple from a different household within touching distance and breathe onto each other with no masks offered (approved by the Queensland Government apparently).

Had an enjoyable and relaxing day taking a return Skyrail trip from Cairns to Kuranda. The view from the gondolas is lovey and it was a peaceful and fun activity. The two short stops on the way were worth taking to explore the rainforest in a bit more depth and see Barton Falls. Well worth doing!

Bronwyn_G June 2021

Loved the views from the train on the way to Kuranda, magnificent views of the rainforest coming back down to Cairns on the Skyrail.

Rosemary K June 2021

Wonderful way to see the rainforest from the canopy. There are a couple of stops on the way up to Kuranda were you change cable cars and can walk around to discover the rainforest and experience the canopy with the last atop on the way up at the Barton Falls look out.

Sara_d May 2021

The view was excellent and you felt quite safe in the ‘ski lift capsule! The staff were so helpful especially as I had a broken leg at the time !

Mark_W May 2021

Beautiful scenery and it was great getting out at the lookout spots to see the waterfall and beautiful walkways through the rainforest.

Disappointing. Train from Freshwater Station delayed - had to wait at hot station for over 2 hours - packed into train - very uncomfortable.

The bus driver Paul that took us to the train station was hilarious. Perfect for that job. We went up on train, so good. Staff were very attentive. Came down on skyrail, amazing. Best day out since we’ve been here. Thank you. Well worth the money.

Looking down at the trees and over the canopy of trees we were passing over plus the great view of city and ocean before the last stop.

Very disappointed that at the end of a great day we couldn’t get the bus back to sky rail. No one told us you have to book a bus fare as well. We booked a taxi and someone else got into it! Have 2 young kids on a busy road waiting for transport. Sky rail please be more considerate

Great way to experience the sheer scale of the rainforest by going over it in a Cable Car. The 2 stops along the way also enhanced to overall experience.

Well worth doing, but no need to go from the centre of Cairns. Just park your car at the cable car terminal. First cable car is at 8:45am and its worth going as early as possible as the last train back is 3:30. The cable car stops at 2 stops and it is definitely well worth getting off for these brief stops to look around, especially at the Barron Falls. The butterfly house and bird gardens in Kuranda are well worth seeing once you get to Kuranda.

We did the self drive option of this trip. The Cableway was very nice but you had to download the App to get any information as we travelled. Karunda was a bit tired and touristy. The scenic train trip was again pleasant but the train is not air conditioned. The day was a nice day all that being said.

Upgraded to diamond with glass floor it was great views amazing Kurunda village lovely a nice day out well worth the money

This was an amazing experience! We took the skyrail up. We took an uber from our hotel to the skyrail terminal and then took it up. Took both the stops! Loved it! Took super super photos and enjoyed the trip! Kuranda was very pretty took. We planned it right. Took the skyrail up at 11.00. Reached at 1.230. Spent 3 hours and took the train back! Worked perfect!

Great views with two stops along the way. You can spend as much time on the boardwalk of these stops (Barron Falls being one of them) and walk around and see the scenery before lining up to co to us on. It was a great journey. We took the railway back home (see my review). It if recommend the Skyrail there and back!

Trip by rail from Sweetwater historic station was great. Lovely views of the countryside and a good historical documentary of the harshness of the way of life for early settlers digging for gold. Had a stopover in leafy and tropical Kuranda. Lots of good quality shops to view and an old Queenslander hotel. Well worth a look. Then on to the Sky rail. A 7 and a half construction over the canopy of the rainforest. Not to be missed. A fantastic day out. Highly recommended. Nicole C.

We had a wonderful time today riding the skyrail and seeing the rainforest. Our guide was very informative and did a great job showing us through the rainforest. The ride itself is quite amazing as you glide high over the rainforest. The Barron Gorge and Falls was the highlight of the trip. The views are incredible. I’d do the trip again just to see the falls and Gorge again. It takes about 90 minutes to go through the whole place so it’s something you can plan on doing in the AM or PM. Well worth the time and money.

Absolutely incredible experience. Would highly recommend this trip. To be above the canopy in the Australian rainforest just takes your breath away

AndoCentralCoast October 2019

We took the sky rail up and back as we didn't want to spend all that time on the train. Was very happy to see that you didn't have to share the ride with others. Stopped at both stops to check the view and so glad we did Spent quite a bit of time at Kuranda at the 3 different parks and loved each one. Although we booked specific times, staff were very flexible in allowing us to leave a little earlier and come back down later so there was no rush. Staff were fantastic.

Samantha M October 2019

I loved both the train and the sky rail (although the sky rail is a little nerve racking being up so high). The view from both is so amazing that photos cannot do it justice. The activities in Kuranda are super fun, but Kuranda is super humid and feels a little damp. A must see is the koalas, birds and butterflies!

Jackie255103 September 2019

I went up to Kuranda and back by Skyrail today and it was Fantastic! Firstly I got there early at about 0830 and was able to get straight onto the cable car 15 mins early..there were no queues and I got the car all to myself , so peaceful up in the air on my own ... It was school holidays so I was very surprised by this ! All the staff I encountered were very friendly and pleasant. The two stops on the way were great, although I’d like to see the Barron Falls when they have lots of water running’s been a bad winter for rain. In Kuranda itself it was surprisingly charming with a lovely old railway station and heaps of cafés and arts/crafts/gifts shops plus the three animal parks to visit so I called Skyrail and asked for my ticket to be changed so I could have an extra 2 hours there, the lady did this on the phone easily ! So the parks were all, good, I loved the butterfly one best... Had a delicious Mango smoothie at the very friendly Frogs Café where I was delighted to find a large lizard under my chair who was quite happy for me to get close and take photos. On the way back there were more people for the cable car but the staff still didn’t overcrowd the cars, they actually hold 6 but they were putting just 3 or 4 in each which was nicer. So yes, I highly recommend this tour and I didn’t think it was overpriced either. One thing I’d say is though that I enquired on line about the special open top canopy cruiser option but they said this is not available as it’s school holiday time ..not sure why this would be .. Also there is a ‘diamond’ option where the cable car has a transparent floor but I’m. It sure that this would be that much better to be honest.. In summary..loved it and what a Great day out for adults or children alike.

Kayla G September 2019

The cable cars over the rainforest were amazing, never seen anything like it ever and would do it again!! My friend and I were given a ranger tour by Fred who taught us about the fauna of the forest and he was an amazing guide and made the whole experience fantastic!! Would recommend to anyone :D

melaniesN8231RI August 2019

Great view of the rainforest. I am not afraid of heights but people who are, might struggle. To those I suggest it’s worth it! You stop twice along the way. I highly recommend getting off at each stop. There is stuff to learn and see.
