Stop At: Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, 708 Jesmond Rd Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane, Queensland 4069 Australia
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary opened in 1927 as a safe refuge for sick, injured, and oprhaned koalas, at a time when the species was being culled for the fur trade. Founder, Claude Reid, recognised something had to be done to help protect one of Australia's most iconic species. Today, Lone Pine remains as a destination not only see native Australian animals, but to also connect and learn, and to leave feeling inspired to make small, positive changes in your daily lives to help protect native wildlife and habitats.
Along with koalas and kangaroos, Lone Pine hosts a sheepdog show where you see the hardworking dogs round up a herd of sheep, responding to their master’s whistles, calls and hand signals. You can see owls, kites and sea eagles soar above you at the Birds of Prey show, or marvel at the colorful feathers of the wild lorikeets that fly in twice daily for feedings. Other bird species and a population of Eastern Water Dragons, a lizard that grows up to 3 feet (90cm) long, also like to visit Lone Pine’s lush natural parkland.

Everything was on point.
Boat was very clean and well maintained.
Staff was helpful and knowledgable.
The cruise dow the river very informative on the sites and the park was awesome I have never seen koala's so active the day was awesome.
Fantastic time viewing the animals etc. Very good interaction with crew who work there. Staff very informative to questions.
Bit of a downside unfortunately is maybe a few more rubbish collection points and letting the public know when and if the food place is open. All in all if possible would return
Great narrated cruise to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. The sanctuary of koalas and kangaroos was great!
Scenic trip up the river was informative and beautiful. Commentary was extensive and incredibly interesting. At the sanctuary we were able to get close to a range of native animals. The koalas were quite active and visible to onlookers A wonderful day out
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
River cruise excellent boat was clean, tidy and well catered
Staff were friendly too
Sanctuary was great too - various animals not just koalas (kangaroos, rapture show, sheep, Tasmania devil, crocodile, dingos)
A great day out!
Sooooooo many koalas - I took hundreds of photos! Also fun to feed the kangaroos! Great amenities and facility. Wonderful river tour as well.
Lovely place, very informative, River cruise excellent, recorded commentary very good.Captain of boat very thoughtful and looked after the passengers very well especially during thunder and lightning storm
The fairy ride was nice on the river. Got to see more of Brisbane. The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary was awesome we got see and touch Kangaroos and Koalas and dingoes. We also saw other animals it was an awesome day. We just wish we aren't on a time sort time restriction so that we could've hold a koala.
Brisbane River cruise was enjoyable with great views and good recorded narration.. The sanctuary was well laid out and you could get close to the animals.
Excellent tour great boat trip with full commentary . Koala sanctuary was amazing animals well care for and friendly staff well worth a visit
Enjoyed the day it was a good trip The river trip was very interesting and the park was great would recommend it
this was a great way to go to the Lone Pine Sanctuary, you see a bit of Brisbane as well.unfortunately, we didn't get to hold the Kuala, was too hot, and times didn't match up with our tour. the Kangaroo's we're not roaming around because of the heat. still a good tour
Pontoon was easy to find, right by the bridge. River cruise commentary was interesting and informative, the boat crew helpful and friendly. We opted to stay to hold a koala missing the return but we were warned by the crew what time we had to return to the boat. Loved the sanctuary, saw lots of koalas sleeping and eating. The tasmanian devil came out while we were there, the platypus was swimming around, got to hand feed kangaroos and emus and wallabys. Had a great time there, would definitely go again when in Brisbane.
The whole sanctuary and river cruise experience was awesome. It was interesting learning the history of Brisbane and the Koala Sanctuary. We have never seen so many koalas in the one spot. It was really nice to sit in the covered area having lunch and watching the koalas in the pretend trees eating and moving around. The keepers kept the area spotless and there was no smell from the urine or faeces deposited by the koalas because the area was always being sterilised and raked. Wandering around and seeing the other animals was good. Unfortunately we didn't get to hold a koala because of the heat, but we didn't mind because their welfare comes first. We took a few photos and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would recommend it to everyone.
From start to finish a lovely day, so scenic and a brilliant way to see the Brisbane from the river. Absolutely loved it. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is really good and the cuddle the Koala is an added bonus. Thank you will be back x
Catching the boat over was very clear and easy. Get there early to get a preferred seat. The ride over is about 75 minutes (each way) and this includes entrance and a pass to walk past the lines when you get there, The Sanctuary is wonderful. With many opportunities to see the koalas up close and personal. You can get a picture with one, (not holding them) but with your camera and there was no charge. The last ferry back gives you about 3 hours here and is plenty of time to see the kangaroos, and all the birds and other Australian native animals. Very well organized and great package for the price.
Boat trip was excellent. Crew were friendly and informative. Sanctuary was lovely and animals looked well cared for.
Koala sanctuary it was awesome, we were disappointed that we didn’t get to hold a koala and have a picture taken. It would have been nice if we could have signed up in advance,
nice cruise and very informative. We spent a sunny Saturday morning in the park and on the cruise and we felt very relaxed. It is not a rushed trip.
We did the River/Lone Pine tour which is a must. The staff on the boat are amazing and the commentary is hilarious.. The park itself is well done and clean, would highly recommend paying the $25 to hold the koala but they do offer a photo op for free which we did both
