On our popular Sunset Magic Cruise, we’ll explore the rugged northern end of Lake Argyle while navigating through some of the lake’s 90 islands and inlets. Our Skipper will entertain and inform with commentary on the natural history and development of Lake Argyle, The Ord River Irrigation System and the Aquaculture Industry. You’ll encounter Rock Wallabies, Crocodiles, Wallaroos (Euros) and the diverse array of birdlife that call Lake Argyle home. You’ll be delighted and awed by the Archer Fish that shoot water up at your hand with amazing precision and watch a Catfish feeding frenzy. As the sun sinks behind the Carr Boyd Ranges, you’ll enjoy a complimentary drink and light snack to make the most of this magic time of day. With rugged red cliffs reflecting into the blue water, Lake Argyle is the ultimate place to catch the last golden rays of the Kimberley sun.

Greg the owner is a grumpy old man, he is burnt out, and needs to develop some people skills, take a leaf out of your bus driver Bruce’s book

Highly recommended tour to experience Lake Argyle. From booking, pick up, tour to drop off absolutely well run & highly recommended tour. Bruce confirmed our booking & picked us up as expected at our hotel. He gave very interesting & informative commentary on the highlights of the drive from Kununurra to Lake Argyle. We stopped at the Durack Homestead en route which was interesting. Bruce is a lovely guy, very welcoming & hospitable - thx Bruce. Our tour was conduced by Greg. Greg was very welcoming of guests & gave us an outstanding experience of the Lake. The swim at the end in the Lake with the "Freshies" was awesome. Greg really knows his stuff & was able to give us an informative, interesting & enjoyable tour of the Lake. I would highly recommend this tour whilst in Kununurra / Lake Argyle. Lake Argyle needs to be seen to be believed & I would recommend Greg for this experience. Thx Lake Argyle Cruises for a great day on the Lake & experience.

This was a lovely way to end our holiday. A short informative bus ride from Kununurra then a few hours floating round Lake Argyle. Close encounters with rock wallabies, archer fish and crocs. Glorious sunset with the rocks changing colour every minute. Culminating in a much needed swim with in-lake catering, champagne and dips. Don’t miss this experience

Amazing, so much information, stunning scenery, amazing wildlife & to finish bubbles & a swim. A must do for anyone in the area.

We had a great tour on beautiful lake Argyle. Great formula of activities to engage in the environment but I think it's time Greg handed the job to someone who is more enthusiastic. He seemed grumpy and this attitude carried on to the bus driver back to Kununurra who didn't seem to want to go out of her way for anyone. Hardly the approach for tourism.

Great day all round, swimming off the back of the boat at sunset was fantastic and the Lake and wildlife was wonderful

An absolutely beautiful cruise. The bus driver gave us lot of info on the local area on our way down to Lake Argyle. The cruise was just perfect and the swim during sunset should be on everyone’s bucket list. The skipper told us about the history of the lake and show us on a map where we had been. Jumping into the water was a real surprise as it was actually warm. This with some chilled champagne and cold beer just added the the experience. A must do trip

Brendan_B August 2021

Informative host and sunset swim. We saw crocs, archer fish, spiders (why, oh why) and swam in the most beautiful waters. Highly recommended.

StrapperJ August 2021

Such a beautiful place to tour and watch the colours change with the sunset topped off with a refreshing dip and a few coldies. Mitch our guide was a ripper.

Paul_P August 2021

Very well organised tour taking in the historic homestead and the northern end of Lake Argyle. It was around a 55 minute coach ride from Kununurra and the driver was informative en route. The boat cruise was also informative and entertaining and it was very special and memorable to be able to swim in the lake as the sun set in the distance. Everyone was happy when the sparkling wine and champagne came out! Highly recommended.

Lovely afternoon out in the lake, with family. Mitch was fantastic as our skipper & guide. Very personable & informative. Loved being able to have a swim & the drinks & nibbles in the water. Bruce was an awesome bus driver too, full of local plant knowledge & history of the area. Great time & would highly recommend!

Informative and well organised Cruise. Negotiating between bus and boat on foot was very tricky, due to undulating and rocky ground surface; this must be improved, especially for those who have mobility issues. Also the crew of the boat needs to have an extra person to the skipper to assist with refreshments etc; the skipper CANNOT do all the chores by himself, plus manage the boat.

Well run, Mitch was a good guide - well informed and fun. Lake Argyle is impressive - in size and the wildlife seen.

A great afternoon / evening! Our bus driver Bruce was great with his banter on the drive up to Lake Argyle, and Mitch was a lovely guide on the water. Definitely a good experience if you have a few days in the area.

Anna C July 2021

An awesome cruise that was informative as well as fun. Swimming in Lake Argyle at sunset while sipping on bubbles/beer - perfection. Our tour guide and host, Mitch, was articulate and brought a sense of fun and light heartedness. A wonderful experience.

If you like sardine tins then this cruise is for you. Small bus from Kununurra to lake Argyle. Boat very small, packed in like sardines. Not much room to move around. As to afternoon tea, if you like not nice biscuits and Nescafé 43 and bushells tea in placky special cups, then enjoy. Overpriced for what you get. Scenery was beautiful and wildlife great.

Tina J July 2021

Stunning sunset. Great information. Saw lots of wildlife. Alcohol provided. Friendly tour guide/boat driver.

Lis_Fee July 2021

Was a great day, we actually did the Ord River and Lake Argyle Sunset Cruise Combo which departed from our Kununurra hotel. First up Lucas from Triple J Tours took us down the Ord River for 55kms showing us the best of the wildlife (freshwater crocs, birds, etc) and scenery. We had our delicious meat, salad and rolls lunch on the banks of the Ord River. This part of the tour finished up at Lake Argyle at the power station where a bus picked us up for a photo opportunity between Lake Argyle and the Ord River then down to another boat on Lake Argyle. Greg took us through different sections of Lake Argyle, just before the sun was setting we had an opportunity to swim and people in the water could have a beer, sparkling wine or cool drinks with dips and chips floated amongst everyone on an esky lid - only in Australia. the sunset photos were beautiful and we were driven back to Kununurra a great day out. Please note no COVID requirements for this tour, they did everything in accordance with WA laws.

Surpassed our expectations! Amazing scenery, knowledgeable friendly staff. So much fun, floating in the middle of Lake Argyle, sipping a champagne as the sunset over another memorable day in the Kimberleys.

Grahame_D June 2021

Sunset was absolutely incredibly stunning. We got picked up and dropped off at our accommodation which it made it so easy for us. The Captain, Greg, was so knowledgeable and explained everything so well. It was totally enjoyable trip.

I rarely post 1-2 star reviews and only when they are richly deserved. We booked a Combo cruises package through Lake Argyle Cruises comprising a lunchtime river cruise and an afternoon sunset cruise. This review may be at odds with other reviews for this operator as from our experience it appears they run two different standards of Sunset Tours. The lunchtime river cruise was run by Triple J tours and was a five star experience with an extremely competent boat driver/tour guide and an excellent lunch at a semi-permanent lunch spot on the river bank.  On the river cruise there was a mix of APT tourists and independent travellers.    Triple J transported us to Durack Homestead where Lake Argyle Cruises took over and the best part of the day was over. The independent travellers had limited time at the homestead (join the toilet queue and grab an ice cream) and were then transported in a bus which had seen better days to their base in Lake Argyle township.  Here we spent some time in an area which could perhaps be mistaken for the Lake Argyle base of Steptoe and Son.  It seemed we were to be parked there while the group tour sped past to take exclusive use of the more modern boat you may have seen in the promotional material. The Tour Group disappeared off into the sunset and after that the independent travellers were transferred to a larger but equally well worn bus to be deposited at a vessel which could perhaps be best described as matching the state of the buses.   The boat driver/tour guide did indicate it was his first trip on his own and made a valiant effort to remember the standard commentary but regularly had to refer to his notes.  Lake Argyle proper and the sunset are certainly not tired and well worn but for us the Lake Argyle cruise experience was.  Certainly the standard of the Sunset Tour we experienced did not live up to our expectations or other reviews. It is likely that local tour operators are going to be dependent on Australian residents for some time to come but if they are unable to deliver a consistent quality product to those with a wide range of tourist experience it is a negative for the industry as a whole. In hindsight we should have done only the Triple J Tour and finished the day on a positive note.  If the Lake Argyle principal vessel and experienced guide is booked for the exclusive use of a tour group you may wish to consider other options. Buyer beware as we had high expectations for this cruise based on other reviews and certainly for us it was one of the more disappointing experiences of a 6 week tour through WA and the NT.

A very good tour Guides were knowledgeable about the sites and there was plenty of wildlife and stunning scenery. Includes a dip if you wish or you can sit back with a drink and enjoy the sunset

We thoroughly enjoyed our sunset cruise on Lake argyle. Th pick-up from our accommodation in Kununurra was on time and we were taken via the Durack Homestead Museum on our way to the our lake cruise. Our skipper and guide for the cruise, Greg, was knowledgable and entertaining. Our tour took us around to various parts of the lake to see rock wallabies, freshwater crocodiles, fish and spiders. The afternoon was finished of with a sunset dip in the lake with a drink and nibbles.
