Full Day Rainforest 4WD Tour from Cairns
Your journey takes you to places Cairns locals know about and the tourists have not yet discovered. You will be taken through pristine Tropical Rainforest, over seven water crossings and enjoy lunch in a truly relaxing and tranquil setting. The afternoon takes you to the other side of the Great Dividing Range, Aussie Bush, The Outback, ice cream and a waterfall for a cool down.
A short drive and you are out in the rainforest, enjoying the crystal clear water of Stoney Creek and a rainforest interpretive walk. Up the hill you climb, enjoying panoramic views of Cairns City and out to the Great Barrier Reef. Morning tea is served overlooking Lake Morris, a man made marvel, surrounded by Lambs Range a small part of the 900 000 hectares that makes up part of the World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics. Through a locked gate, 4WD is locked and your journey into the vastness of the rainforest begins. Jurrasic Park is a statement heard often...
You follow a seldom used old logging track into the traditional land of the Tjapukai people. You are now travelling back in time, it is a living museum. Plants and animals that no longer survive any where else on the planet still inhabit this area. The rare Cassowary, the Boyd's Rainforest Dragon, Musky Rat Kangaroo and Giant Tree Fern are found nowhere but here.
Marvelling at the immenseness and natural beauty of the surrounds, you drive though five crystal clear streams and arrive at your lunch spot.
A buffet lunch is served Alfreso in the middle of the forest. The sounds of the wind, water and birds are your background music.
After lunch you take a boardwalk adventure. The biggest birds nest you will see, an amazingly beautiful water feature, a tree you think is the biggest you have ever seen, till you see the surprise at the end of the boardwalk. A 900 year old strangler fig tree. This tree has strangled, killed and eaten another tree. Definitely a jungle in here
After two more stream crossings the rainforest dissapears suddenly. Landscape and weather change dramatically. We are now in the Aussie Bush. Eucalyptus trees and giant termite mounds are the new features.
All of a sudden seemingly out of nowhere an ice cream shop appears. A complimentary ice cream is enjoyed. With 45 flavours of hand made ice creams all produced from locally grown fruit, choosing one is always difficult. A large selection of locally made souvenirs are available here as well.
Your afternoon break is followed by another landscape change. On the way to Davies Creek Falls for an afternoon cool down, you touch on the edge of the Aussie Outback. The waterfall itself is amazing, but it's the secret natural rock pool at the top which is the surprise.
The pool is so incredible that a beer commercial has been filmed there. What more of a recommendation do you need?
No Aussie adventure would be complete without seeing a wallaby or 200. The aptly named Pretty Faced Wallabies are always photogenic.
At the end of the tour having been amused, entertained and educated, Kevin will bid you farewell and return you to your accommodation.

Kevin was awesome. He brought us to some beautiful places, gave us some great recommendations for the area, and even can tell a joke or two. (Good at being joked on also).
Kevin is a brilliant guide, informative, engaging and entertaining. Tour was amazing, visiting some hidden treasures of the cairns hinterland!
DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR!!! Kevin's love for the wilderness and the wildlife that live is obvious the first minute you meet him. If ever there was a real live Crocodile Dundee of the rainforest Kevin is your guy! His quick humor and engaging spirit ensures that everyone has an awesome time. Because of circumstances beyond our control, Kevin agreed to reschedule us and took us out on his day off and showed us the wilderness and the outback! Incredible sightings of Lace monitors, a pair of musky rat kangaroos, numerous bird sightings, beautiful butterflies and Kevin's extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna made the day fly by and topped off with handmade icecream and a swim in a pool on Davis creek. There is a reason that he is so highly rated. Bloody good time mate! Thanks from Shawn and the family.
Our final day visiting Cairns consisted of a delightful tour filled with short walking hikes, gorgeous rainforest scenery, exclusive mountain access with local sights, sounds, fauna and flora and we loved every minute of it. Our guide Kevin clearly enjoys his job as well which made it so much more enjoyable too. From learning how to speak as an Aussie, to the historical stories and fun jokes, Kevin kept us entertained throughout our journey and for that we are thankful. The local ice creamery was a nice treat on a hot day, and taking a dip in the same waterfall from the 'Great Northern Beer's' commercial was a refreshing end to the day. We would definitely recommend this trip to anyone interested in the area!
I spent two weeks in Queensland and a long weekend in Sydney and this tour was my favorite day of the entire trip! You can tell that this is just not a business for Kevin (the owner/operator), but his passion. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and truly enjoys sharing it with his guests. He even brings fresh fruit from his garden to share.
On this tour you actually get to see and experience the beautiful wilderness of Queensland, instead of trying to figure out how to crop the 100 other tourists at the same spot out of your photos. On our all day tour we only saw a handful of other tourists the entire day and in many spots we were the only ones there!!! It was great being in a four wheel drive vehicle which let us go where other tours cannot.
I already recommended Kevin's tour to a few others while I was still in Cairns, but wanted to make sure I posted a review on here as well. It was truly an unforgettable day. Thank you Kevin. (And please thank your wife for the amazing potato salad we had with lunch.)
