If you are thinking of doing this cruise, just do it!!! You won't regret it, it has to be the best way to see Maria Island. History, landscapes, wildlife, cruising, walking eating and drinking and all you have to do is show up☺️. I don't know what else you could possibly want in a day tour. Maria Island is so versatile and beautiful which I don't think you would be able to experience any other way than by cruising around. Thank you so much to the team from the moment of booking right up to the end. The team are considerate and helpful with booking needs and great communicators. Wonderful day out. Don't miss this.

First class tour. Great value and the crew were friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Every aspect was a thrill in some way. Be it the surge of the three Suzuki’s effortlessly pushing the “Spirit of Maria” through the Mercury Passage or the encounter with the cliff rock formations together with Mike’s comprehensive commentary. We had the full circumnavigation booked but the Southerly swell would have spoilt the day had Mike continued. What we saw was a more detailed and leisurely cruise of world standard formations.

I love it when a day trip exceeds my expectations. This was one of those times. I signed up for the Ile des Phoques / Maria Island cruise and walk. I was glad the weather cooperated for the Ile des Phoques portion of the cruise because, not only did we see so many seals, we were able to enter two sea caves that had unexpectedly brilliant colors. It was simply magical. We then cruised over to Maria Island where we explored the Fossil Cliffs and another sea cave before stopping for a lovely lunch while anchored in a secluded bay. After lunch, we stopped by the Painted Cliffs before disembarking at Darlington for a two-hour break on land for a guided tour and/or wander around the old settlement. There were so many wombats on the grounds, along with Cape Barren geese, it was amazing. As if a day like this couldn't get any better, a baby wombat tried to take a bite out of my sneaker. Had to remind myself to stand still and take a picture. Fabulous day, super crew, and great guides.

Had the best day doing the Maria Island full day cruise, we saw seals, whales, dolphins, gannets, wombats, cape barron geese and kangaroos, walked the island, had lunch on the boat under a waterfall, seriously what more could you ask for!! The crew are amazing and attentive, they ensure all on board are having a great time and enjoying themselves

Fantastic tour with exceptional care from Michael, Steve and Ally. The crew went out of their way to share their knowledge and experiences aaaand if you want to see a wombat, Ally is an excellent wombat spotter! The Maria Island tour with East Coast Cruises is totally worthwhile. Thanks for a great tour guys

Loved every minute of this trip. Amazing staff, amazing island - a very special place to visit. Seas were quite rough on the day we went and the boat handled it perfectly with Mike being the perfect skipper - no motion sickness at all by anyone.

East coast cruises are fantastic, took my daughter on the cruise whom had never been on a boat and had a fear of boats, they were wonderful and she felt safe and loved the whole trip, seeing dolphins, seals, wombats, kangaroos, fossil cliffs and walk around maria Island, she cannot wait to go again. Food at the cafe is well worth a visit, very delicious and the friendly service staff a pleasure to talk with.

Amazing experience. The environment is stunning but the experience was made even better by the staff. Very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. We felt like they tailored the experience to us once they got to know our interests. Cannot recommend them more, will definitely be back when is Tassy next.

What a special place is Maria Island from the sea .. the geological features are world class and that was confirmed by other passengers on board who were Geologists! Beaches resembling Wineglass Bay with turquoise water along with a visit to the historic site on the Island, culminated in a exceptionally enjoyable day! Excellent interpretation, very comfortable cruising and another great Tasmanian experience!

Mike's knowledge is deep and insightful and shared with passion. He has an intense interest in the environment that he lives and works in based on a lifetime of experience. The tour has some nice surprises. Highly recommended!

The winds were up on this day, yet the boat did an amazing job of keeping things comfortable. A perfect balance of time spent seeing the cliff attractions, vs time on the island to explore a bit and enjoy the walk. Unless you plan on staying on Maria island a few nights, this would be much better than any DIY ferry trip

Nice staffs, they also offer pills in case seasick, and it works for me. We saw amazing views we can’t see by walk. Sea caves, seals, kangaroos, wombats and dolphins! It’s a pity we don’t have much time walk on Maria Island. At the end of our trip, we’re so lucky to see dolphins around us, with the beautiful sunset. It’s a perfect trip, highly recommended!

Authentic people running this gig that really know their stuff! An excellent day & highly recommend. Thanks

A friend recommended this all-day cruise and we are very grateful. This was one of the best highlights of our trip to Tasmania. We went by shuttlebus from Hobart to Triabunna. It was a magnificent day which included whale and dolphin watching, which was really exciting. We circumnavigated Maria Island, with a land tour of Darlington settlement site. Michael and Caitlyn were excellent guides with fascinating commentary. We ordered a light lunch, which we enjoyed while moored in Shoal Bay. Drinks were also included. Many passengers enjoyed the trip on the upper deck but the views on the lower deck were very good. The curtain-type screens provided protection from the spray. I would very highly recommend this seasonal cruise.

Just do it! Michael, Stephen and Rosie do an amazing job from the point of booking the tour to farewelling us. We did the One Day On Maria (Ile Des Phoques) and it was totally worth it. Loved the sea caves, the colours are what you see in the pictures, the seals adorable and then Maria Island. This was a full day tour and we felt we got to see everything without being rushed and moved on. Lunch in the most beautiful cove, the waters so crystal clear that if it wasn't May would loved to have had a swim. Don't do the ferry but book with East Coast Cruises and see Maria Island and its surrounds in its entirety and raw beauty.

What a wonderful day with lots of variety the seals were amazing as was the caves and lunch in the beautiful cove Lots of wildlife to see on Maria Island

briard2018666 May 2021

Wasn’t sure what to expect, but it ended up being one of the best days I’ve had in ages. Absolutely stunning scenery which just kept on giving, commentary insightful and to the point , and the food great.

Pete May 2021

We had an amazing day. We originally were impressed with a very clear relay of safety procedures and trip expectations. As we travelled clear explanations explained the history of the area and geological information. We were also able to change plans to catch wildlife experiences that will never be forgotten. We saw a whale porpoising with a high pod of dolphins. Later we saw and moved to be close to common dolphins Tha actual tour included a lovely morning tea and for a small cost a lovely salad bowl was appreciated for lunch. Our walking tour was also informative but it was difficult for our guide to keep the group together. Overall there was nothing that could compare to our wonderful day. We appreciated all aspects of the day

I cannot recommend the Maria Island Cruise & Walk with East Coast Cruises enough. We went out today and just had the most amazing time. We saw a humpback whale swimming with bottlenose dolphins, common dolphins, Australian fur seals, wedge tail eagles, a white bellied sea eagle, wombats, kangaroos, Tasmanian rosellas, gannets... I couldn’t even list everything we saw. As well as the beautiful cliffs, caves and beaches. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the island and went out of their way to ensure everyone had the best time. What a truely great day out.

MeganJacobs April 2021

The best day with Mike and Steve. A decent size pod of dolphins raced us surrounding the boat which was so exciting! Big smiles all around. We were able to go right inside both sea caves and see those spectacular rainbow colours Ile Des Phoques is famous for. Lots of fun watching the hundreds of seals on land and swimming around us curiously. Lunch stop looking up at the impressive Fossil Cliffs, then a guided walk on Maria around the historic buildings and of course the gorgeous wildlife. Everybody on the boat was lovely and we all had a great time chatting and sharing this experience together. A last sweep of the Painted Cliffs and nearby beach, then a beautiful trip back to Triabunna with some pretty light as the sun was going down. Many thanks to Team ECC. Just incredible every time.

neridakabak April 2021

A great all day cruise, finished with a two hour walk on the island. The staff were amazing lovely engaging people. Plenty of photo ops. We were lucky to see Dolphins and seals and were amazed by the amount of beautiful wombats geese and wallabies on the island. You can take the guided tour or wonder at your leisure. Staff were checking in regularly to see how we enjoying the cruise. We ordered the pre packed lunch which was great value for money and enjoyed a nice glass of wine on board. My only negative feedback is the amount of people on board which made it tricky for seating and a little to cramped.

Llywellyn1942 April 2021

A full day with excellent, knowledgeable commentary. Michael is a Marine Scientist so his knowledge of the marine environment is excellent and he's obviously studied up well on the history of Maria Island because even when we had left Ile Des Phoques (Isle of Seals) he had a commentary on the history and geography of Maria Island. The photo opportunity in the sea caves of the Isle of Seals was breathtaking as we're the photos of the dolphins, weren't we lucky!!! Very highly recommended and given the chance we'll be back.
