Dolphin Cruise from Adelaide with Optional Dolphin Swim
Sometimes within minutes you get to see the first dolphins of the day, which seem to come out of nowhere to play and frolic around Temptation’s hulls. They don’t even go looking for dolphins, the dolphins come to the vessel. Please be assured the dolphins are NOT fed or coaxed in any way. They are wild dolphins that know the vessel and know they are not in any danger.
The interaction can amazingly last over an hour, however, this is sometimes spread over three or four swims with different pods of dolphins. The first time you see them underwater it takes your breath away. Their grace and playfulness is stunning and the sounds of their whistles and echo location noises are mesmerising.
Recently launched ‘Front Swim Experience’, an experience you don’t want to miss. Wild dolphins within arm’s length, playing and frolicking on the bow of Temptation…
From the vessel the dolphins seem just out of reaching distance, enabling you to enjoy and capture on film their playful displays. So, even those passengers who don’t swim still come away with a unique and unforgettable close up encounter with dolphins.

Just AMAZING. We had the best morning ever. The crew were amazing. We hooked up with Dolphins as soon as we left and got in the water with them safely and carefully. Overall the most amazing experience.
Great trip but cold, try to go during warm weather. The crew is fantastic and works hard to find dolphins and tell you where to look.
Dolphin Cruise was awesome. We were fortunate enough to have a beautiful morning. The cruise operators were very thorough and provided ample information. We saw quite a few pods of dolphins and when we didn't see any, just the boat ride was very enjoyable. I am glad we didn't opt for the dolphin swim as I do believe you see more from the boat rather than in the water. The whole experience was exactly as advertised and I really did appreciate the reviews I had read on Trip Adviser before I booked.
We just did the cruise without the swim. Turned out to be perfect weather and saw lots of dolphins. The crew members were great - good sense of humour and lots of knowledge about dolphins. Highly recommended.
Had a great morning with Temptations Catamaran - saw dolphins. Nice morning out on the water - and the crew tried hard to give those in the water for the dolphin swim a great experience. We stayed on board and saw them up close. Thanks everyone for a great day! from Scott and Christine
Fabulous way to spend the morning! Lots of Dolphins
The dolphin excursion was fantastic. The dolphins were so close to the boat it was amazing. The actual swimming with the dolphin I found to be difficult. It was hard to hang onto the rope while being towed by the boat, listen to the crew tell you which side to look not then look for dolphins, and swim and breathe at the same time. The day we went the water was a bit chilly, so that was another factor for me. So I bailed and went back up on the boat to view them. That was the best part for me. The dolphins actually raced the boat on our way back and it was a large pod. Great experience! I definitely recommend this tour!
Great little cruise, hard to see the dolphins sometimes but great experience.
Great experience. Optional Dolphin swim not recommended, because you are not allowed to touch the dolphins and have to cling on a rope hanging at the rear of the boat. No free swimming allowed
It was good but for travellers who plan to swim with the dolphin need to be really good swimmers else there is every chance that you would enter water(choppy) many times and end up seeing nothing, For travellers who do not plan to enter the water, you will definitely get to see a lot of dolphins.
Amazing experience! Definitely worth doing. I would even do it again. The only let down was that people swimming would sometimes miss great views from on the boat. I would recommend people to do a bit of both for the best experience. The skipper was fantastic - very enthusiastic and helpful.
Wonderful experience. Great to see dolphins in the wild.
I enjoyed this trip very much, although it was quite hard holding on to the rope whilst in the water and also trying to see the dolphins. The view of the dolphins was actually better from on board the boat.
It was a great experience! Enjoyed the sea trip and the waters.
Point for improvement would be that the equipement usage could have been briefed and handled better.
Enjoyed this very much. Dolphins came so close to the boat!
Skipper very friendly and crew managed to find plenty of dolphins. Lovely day out, reccomended.
I had a great time on this trip and saw a number of dolphins in their natural habitat. The operator prides itself on not being invasive and allows the dolphins to come to the boat rather than chasing after them. I went with the dolphin "swim" option and am happy that I did as you obviously get closer to the action. Be advised that you don't actually swim with the creatures but instead hold onto a rope off the back of the boat and watch as the dolphins swim by; this is far from clear in the Viator tour description but wasn't a surprise as I'd looked into this cruise before purchasing.
The tour was effective in that they did get out to the dolphins and interacted with them. The operators handled the experience in a way that was respectful to the animals which I feel is crucial for this type of tour.
I do have reservations about the boat, though. It is basically a sailing catamaran with no modifications for a large number of tourists. we had to move bow to stern and back so the pilot could see and it was difficult to suit up with really very little room for each person. There was no place to secure personal items and make sure to bring water and sun protection.
Again, you get to see the dolphins, but there is not much concession to comfort.
Actually, we've passed time chasing dolphins. Go into the water, get back on the boat. The guides know they're work and the wild for sure. But it was really hard to see dolphins.
This was very disappointing. I had tried to find out more about how it worked twice on the phone.Only to get a very unhelpful woman on the phone who kept saying it would be explained on the day.
So along I went - we were given stinger suits - as expected - then briefed on how the swimming with dolphins would work.
Not so much swimming with Dolphins as jumping from a boat whilst holding a rope - and moving down to make room for others -into the water and being dragged along on the rope behind a boat in the hope of seeing dolphins under the water. Plus we had to get into the water quickly on command when Dolphins were spotted.
Well quite a few people who'd booked for swimming with the dolphins backed out at that point. This included some families with children as well as some couples.
Now despite my age 60 and mobility issues I walk with a stick due to arthritis I am normally okay in water. So I decided to give it a go.
I lasted about 7 minutes - i was about the middle of the rope and kept being swept to the wrong side of it. I was s obusy working out how to do that I saw nothing! Same as many round me. So with my neighbours help I made it back to the side and a crew member helped me out.
At this point i stayed on deck and enjoyed the sight of the Dolphins jumping around quite happily.
Had I opted for just the Dolphin boat trip I'd have been happy enough. But personally I feel that describing the experience as swimming with Dolphins an simply inaccurate description of the experience.
I have starred at 2 because I did see Dolphins and the crew wee actually very good and very helpful. But the description of this trip needs to be more accurate.
Having done the dolphin cruise at Akaroa, New Zealand, this cruise was quite disappointing.
