Day Trip with Chef-Led Hunter Valley Gourmet Food and Wine from Sydney
Wine tours are nothing without the perfect surroundings in which to indulge. Nestled inland from Newcastle, the Hunter Valley is a mere 2 hour drive from Sydney and is home to wineries, luscious farmland, art galleries, golf courses and native wildlife.
On this small-group tour with no more than 16 participants you’ll taste Australian made wines at three boutique wineries, paired with a food menu to compliment every drop. Before leaving Sydney, you’ll visit the Sydney Fish Markets to purchase fresh seafood to be used in the menu and stop in the Hawkesbury region for breakfast.
Your guide is not just any old guide – he is your cook as well, and is a qualified chef! We do this to make sure that the food you get to eat matches your tour and the wines you are tasting to perfection.
Our mission is to make your day not just an outing, but an expedition, exploring vineyards, and experiencing first class cooking in idyllic surrounds.

A gourmet Chef preparing courses with the wine tasting WONDERFUL!! He also taught us how to make sushi, and make friends with the local birds!! Every stop was beautiful and great experience.
Have done wine tours all over the world, and this by far was one of the Best. Having the trip led by Chef Jimmy, was also the most unique we have ever done.
Entire day from pickup to drop off went off without a hitch .Excellent choices of the wineries as well. Love small groups and small family run wineries.
Next time we are in NSW, plan to do his trip to the Blue Mountains.
If you love Food and Wine, this is the trip to do.

We were very happy with this day trip. It meet or exceeded our expectations! We were picked up very near our CBD Bed and Breakfast accommodations and given a wonderfully long adventure of food and wine from three boutique wineries and Chef Jimmy's creative talents. A trip to the Sydney Fish Market and a class in how to prepare and roll our own sushi just added to the day's adventures! Then we were returned to our pick up spot the end of the day with out a hitch. Worth every penny even though we had to endure some rain early on while having breakfast under a picnic shelter! Would do it again!
This is a must do while you are in Sydney. Jimmy is wonderful and very passionate about what he does. He is fun and very knowledgeable. I went solo and had an incredible day with great people and delicious food and wine. Highly recommend this excursion!!
This is the best blend of tour group, wine tasting, and foodie trip anyone could ask for. Jimmy does an outstanding job of showing you the best of the hunter valley, thing you wouldn't see in a big group and also places you'd miss if you went on your own. He also does an excellent job with food allergies and dietary restrictions.
What a terrific experience traveling through Hunter Valley with Jimmy! He is very knowledgeable both as a tour guide and a terrific chef as well. The timing of the tour stops were great and the sites he picked were terrific. We enjoyed the small group he leads as well. We highly recommend this tour if you to to experience great sites, great wine and an amazing assortment of great food. The only suggestion we have is the site say dress should be business casual so we wore pants, but Jimmy wore shorts so you should feel to dress casual!
The chef was personable, accommodating, and knowledgeable. He maintained a great balance between the food and the wine. His food was great but he didn’t insert himself into the tasting... that was about the wine.
Jimmy was happy to answer questions about any relevant topic, he was aware of time, and he broke up what would be a long drive with breaks and relevant information.
Going on a wine tasting trip with Chef Jimmy was amazing! What a great experience, from learning about the Sydney fish market, to a hot home made breakfast, rolling our own sushi, and then tasting wine that is paired with 5 star dishes prepared by Jimmy. During the trip Jimmy was very accommodating, knowledgable, entertaining, and overall a pleasure to be around. The wineries were delightful, being smaller, engaging, and with great selections to taste. I was impressed by how many wines we tasted and the quality of the food that was prepared. What a wonderful way to spend a day around Sydney!
Jimmy is very personable and will brighten your day. He knows the country, it’s food and the Hunter Valley. Highly recommend.
We had such a great time on this tour, both the food, wine and company. You can't go wrong by booking this.
The whole trip was wonderful. The food was truly spectacular especially given that it was mostly cooked from the back of the mini bus. So many wines to taste. Everyone we came into contact with went out of their way to make the trip a memorable one. Highly recommend.
This could be a lengthy review, only because it was just that good of an experience.
First, Chef Jimmy knows the area better than most. In the morning, he provided pickup at various locations, taking shortcuts and more expeditious mean to get around the city traffic. Once out in the country, we moved rapidly around a truck fire on the M1. There was confidence in everything Chef Jimmy did.
The menu had a variety of opportunities to explore this young man's amazing talents and everything is prepared from his mobile kitchen. This customized mini-bus travels with you. While stopped at multiple locations, a tapas-style dish is prepared for you, on-sight!
I guess cutting this review a little shorter than anticipated is the best way for you to be pleasantly surprised for once of the best days possible.
Jimmy was wonderful. Great information during the trip to the wine country. Food was excellent (i am not a fish person and chief delivered for me with a great non-fish meal).
This is a unique experience! Jimmy is an excellent chef and organizer. I recommend this trip to anyone who likes food, wine and good company.
Good food and wines, with a great host.
Jimmy has found a great way of making a wine tour more interesting and filled in the day without make it feel as long as it was. We recommend this tour highly.
This tour was fantastic. Jimmy is a great tour guide combining his local knowledge and friendly personality into a well run tour of the Hudson Valley. And then there was his culinary skills. He prepared and served interesting foods every stop all day. It was the highlight of our 5 week vacation.
We had a wonderful day with Chef Jimmy on our food and wine tour. Our tour had 13 people riding in a comfortable van. Jimmy is not only a good chef but he has a great personality. We rolled our own sushi. The only reason I ate it was that I knew exactly was was contained in it. Visited 3 wineries having wine with Jimmy's food. Loved this tour.
I enjoyed everything about our day trip to Hunter Valley. Highlights were learning to roll our own sushi with fresh ingredients including salmon from the Sydney Seafood Market that morning. We toured the market as our first stop. The wine was plentiful at the wineries we visited and there was no lack of gourmet food! I highly recommend this tour while you are in Sydney!
Jimmy is great, the food is delicious and the wine is pretty good too! Book this day trip, you wont regret it.
We've been on many food and wine tours in different parts of the world and this one ranks at the top! Jimmy was very engaging, attentive and is a knowledgeable chef that prepared some of the most delicious gourmet dishes; and they paired excellently with the wines we tasted. If you like food, wine and having a good time, you'll want to book this tour. We'd give it 6 stars if we could!
Congratulations Jimmy on creating and delivering a wonderful day. Your food was delicious, your warmth of personality shone and your preparation and delivery of the day received our top marks. The wine tasting in the Hunter Valley was excellent with the opportunity to purchase but with no pressure. A memorable day which we recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Interesting commentary while taking in the scenery and travelling to each destination. Very well planned and to have a chef prepare amazing food throughout the day to compliment the wine selections was an absolute taste sensation. It was a long day but absolutely well worth it. Thanks Jimmy for an absolutely fantastic experience that we will not forget.
JImmy was an awesome host and chef! He really enjoys his job and is a great cook! If you can only take one tour in Australia make sure it is this one and you won't be disappointed!
The best tour experience in Sydney that I had. Fun day from beginning to end, highly recommended. Chef Jimmy is fantastic and made it a great day
