Wee had a very knowledgeable guide. Thae walking experience was great. The simple lunch in the hut brought back memories from mountain hikes in my childhood. Finally having the privilege of walking through a time capsule of plants and learning that these plants go back millions of years was amazing. The other stops showed another side of Tassie
Beautiful stunning informative trip great tour guide Ben so much knowledge
Not for all ages
Had a memorable day with Ben who was our guide and driver. Took about 2 hours from Launceston to get to Cradle Mountain with a stop at Sheffield. The weather was perfect although chilly. The scenery was breathtaking and we did the short tour mindful of the time.
Ben was excellent in his knowledge and his demeanour. Highly recommend and a must do tour in Tasmania
Will was able excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the area and very amusing. It was our first time to Cradle Mountain and we loved it. Thank you!
I went on this excursion with my daughter and I would like to express that It was one of the most amazing experiences that I have had in Tasmania. I am so thankful I booked this particular tour, as it was such an amazing day. Ben was so informative had so much knowledge of the area, we had a interesting stops on the way, which broke up the journey. The walk around Dove lake was stunning (it’s hard to express in words), we were so lucky to see such amazing scenery and we will treasure the memories forever. We also went into the rainforest and learnt about the history of Cradle Mountain National Park. Ben made us a lovely lunch in a covered area in the park with a beautiful lookout, he looked after our group so well. We were lucky enough to see a wombat, in the rain forest, near where we had our lunch. I can’t say how many photos I took, all the scenery is fantastic (even on the journey from Launceston) and so diverse. Ben also recommend some lovely restaurants in Launceston. We took Ben up on his recommendations and we had such delicious gastronomic experiences at both. Thank you so much Ben for such a unforgettable day!
Excellent. Ben was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and obviously loved the work he did. Shame the bus was a bit cramped
Very well organised, informative and professional. The lake walk was a bit of a challenge for me but well worth the effort.
A really beautiful place with fantastic scenery. Tranquil and pristine blue waters too. Definitely worth the visit
Our tourguide Ben is very experience, helpful and knowledgeable; although the wild weather does not allow us to go further up the mountain, but we learnt lots of history and story from him! =) And James had kindly prepared sandwich lunch for us! Thanks Ben and James :)
We were punctually picked up by Ben our Driver cum guide for the day. He gave interesting and great history throughout our trip. I especially enjoyed the story of Gustav and the preservation of the national park! The view of Cradle Mountain from Dove Lake is simply awesome. The short trail from Gustav’s Cabin into the rain forest was fantastic. Ben is so knowledgeable of the fauna and trees! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. Thank you Ben!
Thank you for a wonderful day! Ben, our guide was like a walking encyclopedia for Cradle Mountain. He’s able to explain in details the history and geographical background of the place. Thank you very much.
I had an amazing experience on the Cradle Mountain tour. Especially our Tour guide Ben had made it worth with his knowledge for the region and Cradle Mountain.
Only thing that was a bit off was mic was not working properly and at times it was hard to hear Ben at the back while driving in bus.
I would appreciate if you can just extend this tour for 2 days just for Cradle Mountain. It would make people to experience more and live Cradle mountain.
We were with David, who had the trip very interesting sharing all the little things about the area, history and what to look out for. Thanks much David.
The guide had a very good knowledge of all that area and the aboriginal background very interesting walk at Dove Lake was lovely Lunch at the little cottage was lovely as well it was a very relaxing enjoyable day The cheese factory on the way back into Launceston was a lovely stop over
tour is fine, guide was very nice. but the lunch is total misunderstanding.... eather do it without lunch for a lower price or give tourist a decent lunch.
This is must see, for the views and history. The trip itself could be better managed. 15 minutes after an hour and a half drive for breakfast at a bakery with a long line is just not enough. The lunch provided was a disgrace, make a roll yourself from a few slices of ham, salami and cheese, couple of tomatoes, and chutney.
The tour was ok, guide was good. Considering this trip starts early there is no provision for even a quick breakfast stop.. the tour guide was adamant on just 10 mins break, it felt like rushed...weather was rainy so the views were also not great..but a good lunch and other spots could have improved it heavily. I could not understand the point of stopping on raspberry farm for 15 mins there is nothing much you can do in that time..better to skip. Overall looked like a rushed trip don't recommend for family looking to explore the place with flexibility.
Our tour guide Ben was amazing, His knowledge of Tasmanian history was remarkable and very enjoyable. To hear his commentary. The weather was so picturesque having snowed the previous day made for breathtaking views and photos.
The not so good!!!
I was extremely disappointed what was offered for lunch. Lunch was had at 1pm after we had completed our walk.
Whilst the one roll was nice I found this insufficient. Especially considering that there was no opportunity for morning tea, which I would have been happy to pay for, had we been given enough time.
My suggestion is to extend the 10 minute toilet pitstop to a 20 minute morning tea break at Cradle Mountain visitor centre and allow people to purchase morning tea prior to the hike.
My parents and I attended the Cradle Mountain tour from Launceston on the 23rd February
Firstly the tour was incredible! The views were stunning, the tour guide was a great guy - very friendly, polite, knowledgeable and passionate about the Cradle Valley
The items I wanted to raise however is regarding the itinerary:
The tour description says approx. 12-hrs
Our tour was approx. 9-hrs
The stop in Sheffield was extremely short - 15-mins - this left no time to view the murals, have breakfast, and see the things that we actually visited Sheffield for!
I'd suggest 30-45-mins here
We were fortunate to have great weather which allowed Dove Lake to be fully accessible...however the guide advised we only had approx. 1hr 15-mins at this location. So half of us rushed around the lake walk and the other half walked only a quarter of the way around - as they were concerned that they would not be able to keep the pace as the guide said it was essential we were back by 12:30pm
The people in the group were more than able to walk around the entire lake however and extra 1-hr would have been sufficient to enjoy the entire lake walk and a reasonable pace........instead of rushing people to be back by 12:30pm
The extra 1-hr at Dove Lake and the Extra 30-mins in Sheffield would have meant the tour length would have been 10.5-hrs - so well within the time allowed for the tour, still returning back at a reasonable hour and actually would have meant that the group felt less rushed and had more time at the actual locations
David is the incorporation of a good guide. His knowledge is brilliant, his voice is clear using Queen's English - easily understandable for everyone, also for those whose mother tongue is not English. His personality created a harmonic atmosphere in the group - unforgettable! Can definitely tell the reader - no need to search further: Just book this tour, and you will be highly satisfied.
