One of the best tours our group of eight have been on anywhere - the commentary about the indigenous history, the formation of the Coorong, its flora and fauna answered all the questions the participants could think of, and more. Thanks Rupert. There was much to see, and the meals with local ingredients were extremely tasty, the approach to sustainability excellent. A trip that several of us will be bringing family to experience.

We went on the full day cruise with Rupert, 4 adults and it was excellent. Rupert was very knowledgeable and a fabulous Host. We saw seals and lots of wildlife. The food was amazing. Couldn't fault the trip. Would thoroughly recommend.

Entire tour was excellent, Rupert was very informative and helpful to all the guests. Excellent adventure along the Coorong with a delicious lunch. Easy walking trails to see beach and other hilights.

We boarded the Coorong at Goolwa for a 6 hour cruise through the National Park. Our guide Lachie was so knowledgeable. Lunch was amazing. We had a great day despite very changeable weather. Great value for money!

This 6 hour cruise was just great, and worth every $. Rupert has a wealth of knowledge about the natural assets of the Coorong and also about the Aboriginal culture of the area. We saw plenty of wildlife, went on two lovely walks and had a packed lunch better than what you get in some restaurants!

A lovely boat cruise on the Coorong. A belated 80th birthday present for my husband from his daughters. The cruise was absolutely excellent our tour guide Lachy was extremely informative and very knowledgable. He gave us all (14) passengers on the boat a pleasant morning tea/coffee break, a lovely lunch and afternoon tea. He was very competent, friendly and good at his job. Explaining all about the birdlife, this was absolutely splendid as there were lots of pelicans, cormorants and many other species of birdlife, the barrages, sandbanks, condition of the water, aboroginal issues in the area and answered any questions which were put to him. We tasted the wild food as the natives had done ate some splendid buns which were locally made. A really enjoyable trip to be recommended, we would certainly do it again. Binoculars are a must. Thank you Lachy we all thought that you were exceptional.

Wonderful cruise with entertaining staff. Lunch was plenty and tasty, morning and afternoon teas were yummy. The pipis were very tasty. The two guys running the tour were full of information and tales. Cam was a true asset, he is a funny young guy full of cheek and humour. The cruise takes you thru some lovely spots with some wonderful history. We managed to spy seals, pelicans, swans, water birds, sea eagles and some parrots. Tasted some native tucker, some of which featured in our lunch and morning and afternoon teas. Make sure you dress for windy conditions on this cruise

Would highly recommend this cruise. Our captain for the day and tour guide Lachie is an asset to the team. He has a wealth of knowledge and was inclusive of all on the tour, not to mention his cooking skills. Lunch provided was excellent, including a glass of local wine or beer, very relaxing. If in Goolwa or nearby, you should make an effort to take this cruise. Thanks for great day..c

We could have hardly picked worse weather for our trip. It was windy, showery and overcast, but all this paled into insignificance with the knowledge and humour imparted by our capable captain, Michael. Lunch on board was a tasty cold offering, embellished with bush tucker additions. The 2 walks were informative and suitable for most people with average or better mobility. The overseas visitors on board were well impressed at getting up close to seals, migratory birds and other wildlife. All in all, a great day out !

Our family booked the whole boat (14) to help celebrate my 84 year old father’s birthday and cannot recommend this experience highly enough! 4 generations, aged 3 to 84 all had a ball! We were blessed with beautiful weather, which helped, but the cute little boat, the interesting information from Captain Matt, the constantly changing scenery, the bird life and seals, the opportunities to stop and walk around at different locations, including the Murray mouth, the Southern ocean and Snake pit stops, let alone the delicious food, all made for a fabulous day, no matter what the weather. As longtime Adelaide residents, it was wonderful to explore our own back yard too in a way more often experienced by tourists, yet still intimate and tailored to our needs.

We really enjoyed our day. Matt the guide was confident and knowledgeable. He is also a local so gave us lots of history of the area. Highlights were visiting an Aboriginal midden and learning about the traditional owners lifestyle, traversing the lochs at the barrages and the fabulous food which featured local ingredients.

Asked to join a friend on a tour of the Coorong, I welcomed the opportunity to revisit one of my favourite areas. Although I have visited this area many times under sail I welcomed the chance to learn more. Matt, our Guide for the day, knew his stuff. He shared his love and knowledge of the area in a professional way. He was polite but firm when dealing with the group and we all benefited from the limits he set. The lunch and snacks and drinks provided were tasty and more than adequate. Even those on board who were taller than I would have appreciated it if the seats were higher thus making it easier to see the wonderful views on offer. An excellent chance to learn more about the way our first people lived and to view even more birds than we could have hoped for.

After leaving the beautiful port of Goolwa we traveled through the lock and down towards the Murray Mouth. The guide was very knowledgeable pointing out landmarks and historical areas along the way. The bird life was abundant with many migrant birds very close at at hand. Our guide pointing out the many different breeds and their origins. We stopped for a walk through sand dunes to look at the plants from where bush tucker can be foraged. We then proceeded to walk to the beach where our guide demonstrated on how to find cockles in the sand. Morning tea was made using native tucker foods in the ingredients as was lunch, which was very delicious and filling. We were also cooked some cockles with the captains own yummy sauce. Back on the boat we motored back up the waterway to where the locations of the two 'Stormboy' movies were pointed out. Our second walk was across spectacular large dunes to where middens from aboriginal times were clearly visible as were matted areas where remains have been found in more recent times. The captain also took us down to a small oasis and showed us how to dig for freshwater. The return journey went through a hand operated lock and through more scenic landscapes past Clayton and Hindmarsh Island, then back to the Goolwa wharf.

A very informative trip along the Coorong and surrounding area. Small vessel which resulted in a very intimate trip. Food provided was very good and generous (lunch too big for me) accompanied with fresh cockles for those who wanted them. A couple of walks were included however during the second one the heavens opened and we got a tad wet! That didn't dampen a lovely day out on the water. We got to see a lot of bird life enjoying this haven and some seals resting up in the relative safety of the national park. Great trip and worth the price.

Our children gave us a voucher for two on Cruise the Coorong as a Christmas present so here we were taking the cruise a couple of days after our 50th. Wedding anniversary. If we made the booking for the first of April, no one would have taken us seriously. Our tour left Goolwa right on time with Nathan at the helm. Nathan gave us a running commentary from start to finish. It is great to meet a guy who seems so dedicated to his job. He was helmsman, waiter, chef,(Just try his cockle dish Sorry I only tried one) . and tour guide. We were treated to morning lunch, a sumptuous lunch and afternoon tea. Nathan was everyone's friend. Everyone on the cruise loved him. What a wonderful way to spend a day on the water and sand hills. So glad our children gave us this gift. Maybe next time around I wouldn't sit up front. The deck restricts the view, but it is easy to get up front to take photos.

A most wonderful 6.5 hour trip! Small boat that takes about 16 passengers (other Coorong boat cruise company in Goolwa has a much larger boat that takes about 40 passengers). Michael drove the boat, provided very interesting commentary, served lunch and snacks, did all the hard physical work. Very multi-talented! He was born and raised in Goolwa, so knows the area intimately. Good to be able to follow journey on Google Maps that was projected on a screen. Very delicious muffins, biscuits and salad lunch. (Only downside was that the lunch was served in disposable plastic boxes with plastic cutlery -- would be nice to have something more environmentally friendly to go with the nature theme of the tour.) Saw some very beautiful and unique places, many birds and seals. Two enjoyable walks on shore, not strenuous (one involves walking up a sand dune and some people seemed breathless). On time departure, on time return. Very relaxed. A very thoughtfully planned day trip, very well executed in every way. Very good value for money.

Elizabeth R October 2016

This tour was very informative with a good mix of history, geography and current challenges facing the Coorong area explained in line with landmarks being passed. The guide was engaging and well-informed and provided a good mix of activity, varying between sitting in the boat and walking. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and Michael was more than happy to expand. He made a particular effort to engage the children on the trip.

MICHAEL_B July 2016

A brilliant long afternoon out with plenty to see and hear about. Guide was very good. I would recommend this your to all as it has something for everybody.

John H November 2015

This was an excellent day out. Michael the local guide is very informative and relates landmarks and sights to family history. The cruise only takes a maximum of 16 people and there were 10 on our tour, so you do not get lost in a crowd. We really got to see and understand the Coorong. The tour included morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. I was not sure what to expect, on a small boat, but the food was very enjoyable and consisted of lots of native bush ingredients, that were also pointed out to use on the walks. If you are visiting the Goolwa area I would strongly recommend this tour.

downinglemur24 September 2015

What a fantastic and informative day out. Matt was excellent and we learnt a lot from his stories. the boat is comfortable and the cruise well planned. There are several stops with walking to stretch your legs. One at an historical aboriginal site and the other at the pippi beach. Lunch was great with a vegetarian option available when booking and morning/ afternoon tea was home made muffins and biscuits made with local native products like wattle seeds. The lunch was fresh and also included local and native produce. Plenty of photo opportunities of this beautiful coorong and Murray area.

Sandra H March 2015

How wonderful to finally be at the mouth of the mighty Murray. Our 3 hour boat trip with Cruise the Coorong was a great introduction to this famous National Park. The comfortable boats take a maximum of 16. The captain, Matt, is a local with deep knowledge, love and experience of the area, and is a very funny man to boot. On our expedition from Goolwa to Younghusband Peninsula we saw and heard about the barrages, locks separating sea from fresh water, the large seal colony, abundant migratory bird life, the dredging necessary to keep the river mouth open when river floods don't happen, and so on. We heard about the first inhabitants, the Ngarrindjeri people, their resourcefulness, culture and history. Matt is a great storyteller. We walked through the Coorong National Park over to the raging length of the Southern Ocean. A cuppa and wattle seed and munterry muffins on the way back to Goolwa completed a great tour, which was well received by all 15 of us.
