Booked a day trip to Mt Buller with Around and About and is was a great day! Booked online and leading up to the tour Walter sent out updates for information on COVID restrictions and a heads up to pre-book lift passes, really appreciated with all the changes happening these days. The day itself was well run and we made great time up to Mt Buller, comfortable bus ride and the stop in Mansfield to collect ski gear was super easy, Walter pointed out lots of cool sights along the way and has a great eye for spotting native animals! He also had great tips about making the day better on the mountain! Highly recommend booking with Around and About!

This tour was a great way to tour the Great Ocean Rd without being too rushed. The van was very clean and comfortable and Walter was very informative. The starts are early but we beat the crowds. Highly recommend this tour.

Absolutely fantastic 2 days trip to the Great ocean road with Mr. Walter (Tour guide). He was very professional, knowledgeable, flexible and perfect with the timing & driving. Since its COVID times, we were just 4 people in the mini bus that can accommodate 11 passengers, so it did feel like a private tour. He took the time to share info, recommendations in each and every stop. Thanks again Mr. Walter and hope to see you again next time! Great quality and value. Highly recommended!

I 100% recommend traveling with Around and About. Walter is a respectful person and committed to his work, we had a so beautiful experience during the two days on the Great Ocean Road.

Walter was very knowledgable, friendly and kind. The best part of this tour was the numerous stops along the way to the final destination of the 12 Apostles.

Philip_W February 2020

This is an excellent, comprehensive tour of the Great Ocean Road. Our guide Walter was funny and informative and showed us all the main sights. The departure times mean you see everything before other tours arrive and the over night stay at Apollo Bay is a great break from all the sightseeing.

We decided we didn't want to do the two-day drive ourselves, so found this tour online and were so glad we booked it. There were only five of us in an 11-passenger bus, so there was plenty of room to stretch out. Walter was an excellent, knowledgeable, friendly guide who is passionate about the history and sights along the way- and there is much to see. We appreciated him going out of the way to try to find some wildlife for us to see- luckily we did spot a few kangaroos albeit at some distance- but saw parrots, cockatoos, koalas and a snake. There was just the right amount of time at each stop- some were just viewpoints, others involved some walking. Saw beaches, waterfalls, sunrise, lighthouse, 12 Apostles, Chocolate factory, and more. Walter managed to avoid the crowds at most of the stops which was great. If you're not going to do the drive yourself, I'd highly recommend Around and About Tours for your Great Ocean Road adventure!

Excellent experience. Walter, owner of the “Around And About” tour, was our driver and guide, who did an excellent job of showing and explaining the wonderful sites along the way. We were glad we also had plenty of opportunities, at the many stops, to get out, take photos, and do some nice 20-30-minute walks at many of the stops. Sites included coastal scenery, waterfalls, seeing kangaroos and Koalas, beach areas, etc. The youth hostel in Apollo Bay was nice, clean, no problem to use the community bath down the hall. Dinner at the Great Ocean Road Brewhouse in Apollo Bay was a positively-memorable experience, including the beer and kangaroo steak. We appreciated Walter’s attentiveness. An entirely pleasant trip.

We did this tour during it’s busy season (Christmas). Walter was our guide and although he insisted upon starting earlier (we left St Paul’s at 5:45am when the stated departure was at 6:30) we understood why once on The GOR. The traffic was terrible and we seemed to be one step ahead everywhere - as we were leaving each stop, cars and buses would come piling in. This meant we had most stops to ourselves and had ample time at each stop. Walter was very kind and considerate and made our tour informative and fun. We highly recommend this tour. It could not have been better.

If I could give 10 stars I would. Walter has a well-times itinerary that maximizes the experience and views while avoiding crowds. He’s a great guide. Scenery is breathtaking. Worth every penny

An easy and perfect way to live the great ocean road adventure. Walter is very convenient and nice, the bus is for a maximum of 11 people so everyone can take time to enjoy stops. He is well organized and he will make your life easy with pick up and drop off ! Also, departures are very early in the morning (something between 6am and 7am) but it's really worth it because you avoid other tours, places were not overcrowded, and you visit places as the wild life awaken, which is very beautiful.

terencekrm June 2019

My wife and I wanted to do a more relaxed paced Great Ocean Road tour and we experienced one with our tour guide Walter from Around and About. We appreciated the various lookouts which gave us ample time to soak in the stunning view of the ocean. Walter is very clear with instructions and good with the road. Without him we wouldn’t be able to spot koalas nor feed the parrots. Our biggest highlight was to be able to catch the sunrise at the start of our trip. Our most enjoyable sight of the tour is the helicopter view of the 12 apostles. We were a little unprepared for the hostel night’s stay. Other than that, we are very satisfied :)

oscarliba April 2019

Increadible two days! The most important fact about this tour is that the 12 Apostles are not "the destination" but just another stopover amongst all the beautiful places you get to see during this two unforgottable days. Actually, the lesser visited places are prettier, so the further you get from the crowd the more you feel the real athmosphare. Highly recommended! Walter, our guide was really kind, helpful and waited patiently for everyone! The time allowances at the stops are sufficient.

The tour started at Flinders Street Station at 6:15am. It was early, but it was timed to get in front of all the buses. We were lucky to have Garry leading the tour. He was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Our first stop was near Torquay and we then slowly made our way along the Great Ocean Road stopping at places like Split Point and Memorial Arch. We were able to make additional stops at Erskine Falls and Teddy's Lookout - both of which don't usually appear on maps, but are definitely worthwhile visiting. Lunch was in Lorne, a great place to spend an hour as it has shopping and beaches. We continued on the Great Ocean Road, stopping at a shipwreck, and at various points where Garry expertly spotted koalas, parrots and sting rays. While one can visit these locations independently, having Garry to find these animals was really beneficial. We ended off the first day by visiting another location off the beaten path - Marriner's Lookout, another spectacular point of interest. We stayed at the YHA in Apollo Bay. The facility was relatively new and while basic, provided comfortably. The second day started closer to 7, and we made our way further up the Great Ocean Road. Highlights include the Twelve Apostles, the Loch Ard Gorge, the Grotto, and the Bay of Islands among others. These were all fantastic sites, all postcard worthy and certainly worth the visit. We returned to Port Campbell for lunch before making our way back to Melbourne, arriving slightly ahead of schedule at 6pm. Many tour outlets offer similar itineraries, but in my opinion, this tour was the best out of the ones offered for the following reasons: - A two-day excursion allows for more time exploring each site, and allows opportunities to explore sites that are a bit off the beaten path - The tour is for small groups, so you get to visit sites where tour buses will not go. For example, Erskine Falls, Teddy's Lookout, Marriner's Lookout were all great sites, where we did not see any tour groups. This also allows for stops along the Great Ocean Road at certain lookouts to take photos, lookouts where large buses will not be able to stop. - The organizers have put a LOT of thought into this itinerary. I can't understate this enough - not only have they selected great points of interest to take their guests, they have the timing down to a tee. The sequence and timing of the individual sites are planned in such a way so that the group avoids the busy times with the bigger tours. It was almost eerie how few people were around the Twelve Apostles site given how popular it was. Being able to take one's time at the photo spots without having to wait or compete for space was worthwhile in itself. Lastly, a shout out to Garry who really made the difference on this trip for me. - Garry was professional and friendly and was really a good driver (it is often overlooked). I always felt safe in the van. - Garry was very attentive to details and considerate of others - he was always taking care of us, making sure we had snacks if the day was getting long, and stopped at regular intervals for washroom breaks or stretch breaks. - Although the days were long, we never felt rushed as Garry was very clear on the amount of time we would need. He would even make recommendations on what to see first at the different sites so we can make the most of our time. - Garry was very friendly and it was easy to have a conversation with him during the long drives between sites. Not only an ambassador to the Great Ocean Road, but Australia in general! (Ask him about Perth!) Overall, the sites were worthwhile seeing but the tour went from good to great because we had Garry. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

Took this tour by myself whilst visiting Melbourne. The company were great and communicative; no problem changing my pick up spot. Doing the trip over 2 days is definitely better than one, we had far more time at each stop, and definitely avoided the crowds (no queuing for photos). Plus the opportunity to visit the apostles with the morning light would be a big pro for anyone into photography. The tour was really well organized, but never felt rushed. Hostel stay was included in the price, and was far nicer a hostel than expected, spacious rooms and comfy beds. You could also stay in a private room for an additional stay. There’s also time the first day to relax in Apollo bay after arrival and soak up the sun. Bus was comfy, spacious and air conditioned. Our guide Walter was very friendly and knowledgeable. I’d definitely take the trip again if I was back in Melbourne, and can’t recommend it strongly enough.

pushan13 February 2019

Travelling as a family of three, we had a great time. Phil, our guide, was very fun and sweet. As he drove us along the coast, he showed us great spots for taking photos. He came prepared with Tea, Coffee, Lamingtons, and a cooler full of water for whenever needed. With plenty of restroom stops and cafes, we had plenty of time to stretch our legs and catch the ocean breeze. Day-1 We started early at 6AM, from Melbourne CBD. Good idea to beat the traffic. We started with Morning Tea at Sunrise on the coast. We began our journey with Torquay, stopping at Anglesea to spot Kangaroos on the roadside. An early stop at The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie for a chocolate tasting and shopping was a good start to the day. Also made stops at the Split Point Lighthouse, Erskine falls (be prepared with jogging shoes to catch your breath with 200+ steps). Stopped at Lorne for lunch. Spotted sleeping Koalas and chirpy Parrots at Kennet River. After one last scenic lookout, we came to rest at a motel in Apollo Bay. Day-2 After an early breakfast at 6:30 AM, We headed out to the Apollo Bay beach one last time, lucky enough to spot a Koala. Stopped at the Otway forest for a walk in a preserved Temperature Rainforest among 200-400 year old Eucalypt trees. After morning tea at Lavers hill, we proceeded to see the 12 apostles from the road. We later stopped to take a helicopter ride over the 12 Apostles ($145pp for 15min, totally worth it). We next went to more lookouts like the Loch Ard George, Razorback, Peterborough and London Arch. Finally we head back home.

spencer96 December 2018

This is one of the most scenic places in the world. A one-day trip would be merely checking a box to say you went there. Our driver, Phil, was very cordial and informative and took us to all of the attractions along the way, nothing was hastened or left out. We would definitely do it again.

Jacques L May 2016

Very beautiful trip. I highly recommend it to everybody. In our case the first day was all sunny while the second was rainy. In both cases, however we enjoyed the days. Our guide was also very knowledgeable. The sceneries were out of this world and certainly not what we are used to see in our home country.

Angela W May 2016

Wonderful! Much better being in a small group - not so much time wasting waiting for fellow passengers getting on and off which happens on a coach. Walter was great, very knowledgable and fun. Would definitely recommend.

Corita Biddy A March 2016

Loved this tour - the scenery speaks for itself and the small group tour maximised the time and interaction with our driver. Couple of small criticisms: Would have appreciated a more substantial breakfast/morning tea on first morning - bikkies and an apple at around 8am didn't quite fit the bill after being collected from hotel at around 6am. No facilities for breakfast at 5am when staying in hotel so would have been more than happy to pay for own brekky at first stop. Accommodation at backpackers hotel in Apollo Bay was also low standard - paid for unit which was pretty grubby - perhaps other options could be offered. Despite these minor complaints - thoroughly enjoyed the tour and the GOR is as spectacular as everyone says it is.

Torben H December 2015

This tour was amazing! It was exactly as advertised and we couldn't have been more happy. Walter, our guide and driver, was excellent- very knowledgeable and sensitive to our interests. If you want to experience the natural beauty of this part of the world in depth, take this tour!

Frankita December 2019
